Do our politicians really have our best interest in mind? If not...Why do we keep voting them into power? I have great concerns over where our leaders our taking our futures. When they are making new policies do they have you in mind?

It's probably inaccurate to say that all politicians are corrupt and self-serving, but it is the type of profession that attracts the sort of person who definitely should never be allowed to do the job. Bad politicians usually have a good line of bull, though, so they can con voters into electing them again. What doesn't help is that the choice of who to vote for is decided by in house by political parties, and not by the actual voters. So, all your potential electoral choice could be bad. There's a saying that goes something like this: "No matter who you vote for, the government always wins". Changing political leaders has very little effect on the actual grunt work of government that's done by the civil service or similar.

That is true there are some good politicians who unfortunately don't have much control over the directions of the party. I guess I get tired of lies or cover ups that effect so many lives. Some how I believe there is a way to curve our government policies, making them a little more people friendly. We in Canada have smaller parties who are trying to make ground so the liberals and conservatives don't completely control where the nation is going. I think it's hard for people to except new ideas. The future is about new ideas and people in general are too quick to believe the governments are doing what is proper and correct for the nation. There is always another side to the story. And it's usually the one based on truth.

I'm personally not to keen on the whole political party concept. I'd rather just have independent politicians. In the UK, too, we have several political parties, but outside of the big 2/3 they have little influence in the countries politics. Even the LibDems don't have much sway.

I'm with you there. We ahev several....CAP ,Green Party...NDP of course but they are losing strength. I would like to see the three come together. Because they all have some great ideas..but singularly..they have no chance and those ideas will die with them.
