I often wonder with so many people here in mylot how it is strange how you seem to see alot of the same people writing discussions here. You think it would be rare that in top discussions you see alot of familiar avatars when there are 124,093 people. So I guess that is good going making it on the top discussions when there are so many people. DO not know where all these people are, as I do not see that many people on here. What do you think?

Yes, indeed that is a lot of people. Some are definitely more active than others. I think probably more than half are not active at all. Some people constantly join programs and either don't like them or forget about them. I'm sure that's the case here as well.

Yes I agree, I think though that it is probably less then half that are really active. As 60 000 is alot of people being active.

We are already thatmany here but I guess only ten percent are actively posting here on mylot. Even here in our office many are mylot member but only a few have continued posting.

After my estimation, only 1 - 2% of that number of users are active and are not newbies. Maybe another 4 - 8% are active and newbies (under 500 replies), so that the whole active population is about 5 to 10 percent...but 10% may be exagerated. By active I mean the ones who check myLot everyday. Still, a number of 12 000 + is huge for a single site.
It's only what I think, I didn't make any calculation, whatsoever.
Most of us come for money and seeing less spectacular increase in earnings than we expected, we are just quiting or forgetting.

I think you might be close there in your calculations, not sure where those figures come from or how they popped into your head. But it sounds about right. You think mathematically, are you a maths teacher by any chance? I agree particularly about 5% being active, as in coming here everyday as you do seem to see the same group of people here on a daily basis. 12 000 is still definately huge like you said for active people on one site, mylot is popular. I think earnings is a big reason, however another is the people you meet here.

I wish there are even more. Actually, recently, the membership seem slowed down. But at more than a hundred thousand, it is quite an achievement for mylot.com.
I have been here since December 2008 and enjoyed my time and earnings.

I agree with you, I have also wondered, where all these people are. As the other fellow mylotters have stated, maybe some got banned, maybe a lot just are not very active and maybe some never come back. But if those statements were true, still we would see all those peoples pages, right? I know what you mean about how there are some people who are on the "todays top discussion" list often. I don't know how they do it, I mean I have made it a couple of times but it seems tricky to me, I don't know what makes your one persons discussion get there over another persons because when one of my discussions was there, it had like 16 responses and there were some discussions on the top list ..listed before mine that had less responses. I am not sure who picks them or how they get there, it would be interesting to find out though. Also, one more thing I don't understand and how in the world do you people get 40, 50, 60 or even in the 100's..for responses??? Does anyone know this answer. Well thanks for the discussion post, have a great day!

Yes I am not sure either how they determine top discussions here on mylot as I have noticed that the amount of responses does not seem to matter. Maybe there is some mathematical formula they have for determining top discussions like they do with the determining the amount of earnings one gets. Need Crash back here to clarify. Hey maybe you could start discussion on your last question I would be interested in knowing the anwer to that too. The most I have had is 50 responses that was impressive for me, I have noticed topics on technology, pregnancy and mylot are popular in getting responses back.

As I type this, it is now 124,103! Yes I have thought this myself as well and not too long ago either. It does not feel like there are that many members on here at all. I see the same people most of the time and then I think I wonder where all the other members are!!

I see what you are saying but there seems to be alot of regular faces in the top discussions. You think we would see many different faces on there with 124,000 members on here.

Yes there are a good number of people out here and all are trying there best to start good discussions and giving responsible responses. I too am among this crowd and finding yourself at the top at any time would be really satisfing.

There might be over 124,000 members of Mylot, but how many are actually active, I think you will find that only about 10% are regular users of MyLot, and of them probably only 5-10% are actually logged on at any one time.
It would be interesting if beside the total number of members was a counter for those logged on at the time.
I've read a lot of discussions where members have referrals who are unactive, which shows that there are not so many logged on as you would imagine.
With membership being worldwide then about half the members will be sleeping at any one time as well.

hi kiran-have been thinking that too, though when i first started on mylot there were different people then responding to my discussions-my thought is perhaps we are not on their friends list or they dont feel like answering--there is always the fact they may be working on another site too- your friend littleowl

Hi littleowl, yes it is true that we may not see many people as they are not on our friends list. But what baffles me as with the large amount of people on here, you still see alot of regular faces on the top discussions. I do agree that alot of people are probably on other sites more, we are loyal here, lol, it is a great site, I spend most of my time on this site compared to any other site. How about you?

I know that I have 12 referrals and only one has logged in within the past few weeks. Perhaps you see the same users posting discussions and replying to topics because many of the users who sign up, post once or twice and then abandon their accounts. I would imagine, judging by my referrals, if one in twelve members are active than out of those 124 093 users 10 000 of them are probably active and some of those users have very few posts they could be new users and if they have less than 100 posts then there is no way they can compete with users with over 1000 posts.

I have also wondered at seeing so many of the same people writing discussions on here seeing that there are so many of us but again I skip all over while responding and also I follow on my friends discussions but also on any that interest me so I see a few new people every day

Oh yes, I have noticed that, too. I can see that same people are starting and resonding to discussions. I do wonder where could the rest of the people in MyLot be. Well, I can say that maybe they do get in MyLot but they never start posting anything. They are just not as active like the others.
