husbands? (for men) would you allow your wife to use her own surname or not?
In the Philippines, the women use the husbands surname when they got married.. but when I came here in Denmark, women can choose whether to use their surnames or their husbands surname.. Well, its a good idea actually for countries who have divorce because they dont need to keep changing surnames in case they will have a couple of unsuccessful marriage.

You live in Denmark? - me too, Esbjerg :-)
I wouldn't mind if my girlfriend kept her surname after we got married, that's for her to decide. But as you mention it's not that uncommon in Denmark.

Mostly women now are combining their surnames by using a hyphen in between surnames.
As for me, i guess i will already use my husband's last name. i would entirely forget my father's last name and use my husband's he he he.. that is with the hope that we will never go into separation - that will be the last thing in my mind. i guess when i get married, i want to have it forever and love no other person but him.

Hello there poisonivez, I think that should I become a husband someday, I wouldn't mind if my wife to be sticking to her own surname. I think I would encourage that even since I want her to be the same person just like I've known her.
If I change her name, she might not like it but just go through with it to please me. I think husbands have this kind of privilege and I always would like to think in the reverse order; "Would I like to be using someone else's surname should I get married?" I think not. So I let her choose the freedom of that. If only she chooses to carry my name then I would no choice but to say yet to that.
Good discussion here ;)
