so i often give panhandlers my spare change when i see them.. i mean i just feel so sorry for them... i ask myself why i do it.. all i can think of is.. what really happened for them to be in the position they are in??? what if that was me???
but then again you see some of them with signs saying "retired navy" or something along the lines of being in the service... if your retired you do receive a monthly check if im correct... ughhh.. i dont know..
is doing such a good thing in my mind, really such a good thing after all??

It's hard to determine the ones who are real or faking sometimes.
I've been there myself, and not many people are willing to give to street people.
When I give, I usually give to the ones who have the signs, and are honest with them, like, "need for pot" or something like that. I know they're being honest, and they're not cheating.
As for the ones who claim to be war vets, yes they usually get a pension, but it's not always enough. However, many of them who claim to be vets aren't, they just pretend. They're usually too young to be vets.
