Empowering Songs through tough times

Ok guys, I want to make a CD for a really close friend of mine. Her mom is really sick and I need some suggestions on empowering songs. She is depressed and I want some songs that remind her that behind every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. Genre does not matter. I have a few but I need some help in order to complete my compilation. Thank you guys sooo much.

Writing a song for someone is good. But there are songs that will uplift the soul of a person looking for someone that can heal a broken heart, and an ailing flesh. These songs I am referring are those old time Christian songs. these are ready-made and they are written by people who love the Lord. Avoid contemporary songs that only appeal to the emotion!
