Yes, its pretty much becoming a necessity. I can't tell you how often I have sought out a payphone and couldn't find one. They are becoming a rare breed because everyone depends on mobile.

Sometimes it makes me really mad, because I have a prepaid cell and I don't always feel inclined to keep minutes on it. There are those times when I have had to make a phone call and had to search high and low for a working phone. Even in the mall. It really drives me nuts, but cell phone use has become so commonplace that I guess that those that don't carry one with us at every opportunity are considered strange.

I had my first mobile/cell phone about 16 years ago when all you could do was make a call they didnt even have text messaging and I used one until 2002 when I ditched it. For 5 years I was without a mobile and I can say with hand on heart I didnt miss it one iota. But last year I got another mobile so I could text my g/f at work and now I couldnt be without it. One the same token, what did you do before you had internet connection?

Yes I believe a cellphone is a necessity now for easier communication. It perfectly applies to parents and their children especially teenagers. The parents can easily call or contact their children on their location or whereabouts when they are not yet home. As a parent like me, its more secure to me that I know where my son is when he is not yet at home. It is through the cellphone by which we communicate with each other easily especially when no landline is available to call home.
Also a cellphone can express love to each other by sending sms messages even when we are not together.

I actually only started using a cell phone last year. I rarely use it, so to me it's not much of a necessity. I only use it when I need my mom to pick me up somewhere or to tell her I'm coming home earlier than planned. Otherwise, to plan something with friends, I just use the computer or the house phone.

For me, yes. It is become a necessity because you can use it in a several way. Maybe you can use it to contact the very important person for you. You can also use it to use it in a several transaction in your business.

I always leave the house without bring my cellpohone if i go shopping or go for a walk. I don't worry if anyone calls me. Insteadly i don't like to be disturbed when i want to be alone. If somebody called me during my going outside, i can call back after I saw the message or missed call.
I am used to power off my cellpohe when i go sleep. it is really a bad habit. If some urgent things happends, i can not respond immediately.
