Is your dog a family member?

I love my Chiuahuah. We got her from a family that couldn't keep her anymore and was doing it as a favor but found she has brought us great joy. She is just like one of my children. We even bought her an Easter dress to wear when my daughter's took her to Easter. She knows the minute I grab her coat that she is going outside and if we put on a pretty dress she knows she gets to go out too. She is a really small Chiuahuah even smaller then most I have seen. She doesn't get under foot either which was my fear. She just trots along side of us and follows everyone around like a small child would do. We have had a lot of pets but she is more like a family member then any we have had before. So do you have a dog that is like your family member?

My dog Petey passed away summer before last and he was so much like a member of the family. He was my baby and is still terribly missed. He slept in our bed, ate at the same time we did and I even signed his name to all the Christmas and birthday cards we sent out.

I have a big dog named blackie...
My mother doesen't like him very much, but he really brings us joy. sometimes my mother will give a saying that she will send him away. But I know that's not the truth from her heart.. actually, he has become one member of our family.

I lost my "family member" on Christmas Eve. His name was Prince and I had had him for almost 13 years. He was a big long haired German Shepherd but he was my baby. He was part of the family. Everyone in the house cried.
I missed him so much that my children went out and got me another dog. She is a chihuahua and poodle mix. She is five months old and weighs less than a pound. We call her Sassy. She is so sweet and so lovable. And her name fits her perfectly. She thinks she is a big dog. Every time I sit down, she is sitting on my shoulder. That is her favorite spot.
I will always miss Prince but Sassy is quickly becoming a family member also.

Our dog is certainly a family member. She has such a great 'presence' round the house.
I don't just mean she barks when pople come to the house or anything like that.
On the rare occasions we have to put her in a boading kennel for a vacation the house seems so empty without her.
She's always there, under your feet, or asking to be let out into the garden.
I would really miss her if she wasn't there permanently.

I could not imagine not having our dog or cats as not members of the family. We don't dress them or anything but they are very much well loved and they know they are part of our lives. I have a cat right now laying beside my monitor sleeping. Sometimes I will have 3 or 4 all about me and the dog laying right beside my feet. Of course if I lay on the couch they are right there with me or on me for that matter. I'd let them sleep with me but then I end up all congested. I couldn't imagine not having them in our lives and in our house. And just like any family member they can drive you crazier then anyone :)

Yes, yes and yes. My three chihuahuas are very important members of my family in fact I prefer to have them around a lot more than I do to have human family members under foot. That goes for any of my numerous pets who have been in my life

I treat my dogs like family but my parents don't.It's only me who know how they feel and what they want and it's only me who understand and love them and they love me too.

I treat my Labrador as my daughter! This was since she was born and brought to me! I really adore her and have her inside the house most of the day. Only when I go to work I live her outsite, in the back yard and I really hate it. I really believe that dogs appreciate more the love that we offer, than a human being. Dogs are more worthy of our attention, care and love than people. Don't you agree?

I treat my dogs not as family member, but my dad yes! He even talks to them such human while nobody around or if i'm really busy with my project that i bring in house, and my sister and mom just busy in kitchen. Hmm... He talks to them and treat them as man... and its seemed my dogs also understand what he said to them... hahaha..

I have three German Shepherds, two cats, and a Prairie Dog..you know like a big gerbil...or a little rabbit... Anyways yes they are All like family. I'm only 5'1" tall and the three dogs each outweight me. Makes it hard when they all three want attention at once!

We have two dogs who are like children to us. I'm so saddened when I hear of dogs who are kept outside on a chain or otherwise not allowed to be members of the family. When you adopt a dog, I think you take on a certain commitment to care for them and spend time with them. I wish all dogs could have the good life.

my dogs always were a part of the family when I had dogs,
now I have cats and they certainly are a part of the family as well, and they are spoiled too.

My dogs are my babies.. they sleep in my bed, go places with me, sit with me, I even buy them treats and gifts.. on Holidays when meals are made my babies get their own special plate as well. Life just wouldn't be right without them.

Our Shih Tzu is certainly a family dog. He is part of us now and he is about 3 months old. We all love him very much. He seem to understand us for example yesterday I said to him, "Go sissy in the toilet" and off he went to the toilet and pee. I was shocked.
When we scolded him, he will show a pity expression and crawl at our feet. He is so cute and adorable. He certainly part of the family now and losing him is like losing someone that you truly love.
