Are they at their limit? Are your credit card payments taking most of your income? Why do you have so many credit cards and do you plan to always use them? If not, how do you intend on paying them off? Is there anyone out there anymore who doesn't use credit cards?

Why did you start this subject? I want to not think about the credit cards and how much I owe. It hurts!
Hello, Reality. I have 11 cards, all maxed out or close to it. I have no self-discipline. Now that I don't have a job, I pay the minimum due on most of them. It takes a large portion of my income.
That's another thing I've gotta do something about.

I cut all of ours up years ago joyce. Decided if we couldn't afford to buy something outright, we just didn't need it. We have one card now, and use it only for emergency.

Joyce, I hope you'll go to the library and check out Dave Ramsey's book, "The Total Money Makeover".
I hope you can get rid of those cards as soon as possible. Keep at it and you'll get there.

i only have one credit card. it has a $300 limit on it and i make sure i pay it every month. my other cards are credit debt which i prefer. because if i don't have the money to pay for something right there and then, then i don't really need it.

I finally got one. We've learned to live off cash mostly. Credit cards just end up getting us in trouble.

I only have one credit card, and it only gets used for emergencies and to purchase Christmas gifts. I went through some trouble with my credit awhile back and after that, I've never wanted to go overboard. Now, I don't even open the offers of credit cards I get in the mail.

I have about six, two of which I use. I have a small balance on one because yesterday I went to Staples and we needed some DVDs and Cd holders, but that will be paid off as soon as I get my statement at the end of April. They are not taking most of my income because I intend to make sure they do not.
Oh I got them because years ago there was no such thing as Store Mastercards, so I had to get a separate one for Sears, a separate one for Canada Tire, a separate one for, etc. etc. Some of them have points and the only time I use my Sears one is if we collected points or got a gift card and the item I wanted is a bit more than that allowed. Now I just need one company Mastercard and I can go into a rival store and they will let me use it. I share a bank Mastercard with my husband and that is now paid off.
So now you have a successful user of credit cards who uses credit wisely.

You're right suspenseful. Learning how to use it wisely is the problem. We just don't use them anymore.

We have two credit cards. One I use just for church because I take care of the website bill. The other we only keep to reserve hotel rooms or things like that. We rarely ever charge on them. We normally use our debit card to pay for things. For normal everyday things we pay with cash.
Credit cards have gotten us into some large debt that took us 15 months to pay off and we don't ever want to be in that situation ever again.
We finally saw the light after reading Dave Ramsey's book "The Total Money Makeover". It is excellent. How to become debt free using your own paycheck.
It's a new way of life to not be under the stress of paying credit cards every month. Now we are onto bigger and better things and ways of life.

Same here simply. We just don't use them. I have one but never use it, except for when we need to reserve a room or something. Sure makes it easier to live now.

I have a few credit cards. I have one at target, one at Circuit City, and one from both of my banks. I only used the Target one to get 10% off on my purchase. Circuit city, I've never used. One of my banks has 100 dollars free, and will be paid off in a couple days, and the other one has 200 left, and will be paid off in a couple days.

Way to go secret. I paid ours off and cut them up. We live off our paycheck now.

I have two gas station credit cards for which I don't owe any money. I also have two Visa cards and a Discover card (as well as my bank's debit MasterCard). All my cards are in excellent standing and I don't even use 15% of my credit.
It's nice to have them for the different bonuses they offer, such as points or cash back, or good for balance transfers and other special incentives.
It's also nice to know they are there if you need them for emergencies.
