I am!!! Already have the candles handy just in case I need them. We are going to play Monopoly in front of the fireplace. What will you do if you plan on participating?
On March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m., join millions of people around the world in making a statement about climate change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the World Wildlife Fund.

Goodness brilliant minds think alike..I just started a discussion about this myself..LOL...and yup, have my candles ready--one hour is not too much time to ask for one to turn off lights...mm...won't be able to mylot though...hehee..might spend that hour reading by candlelit--I usually have most of my lights off anyway and most times only have the one light on near my computer. Wonder how many other people are going to do this though? Hope a lot!

Good Mornin', pye! I can't believe I actually beat someone to the same discussion. Usually when I want to create one, someone else has beaten me to it. Too funny cause when I mentioned it to hubby last night, he said 'We normally don't have the lights on anyways.' I told him but for this particular hour, we gonna make sure we don't use any lights at all. In fact, I'm gonna throw the main breaker for that hour so we are using no power at all. Just the fireplace and candles. Gonna miss PetFinder during that hour but think I'll live. lol I have this posted on myspace as well and sent it out to alot of ppl thru email so I'm hoping by 'word of mouth', alot more ppl will participate.

I wonder if the office buildings say in Manhattan will shut off their lights....most keep lights on 24/7 ..why I don't know..what a waste of energy when you think of it, no?

Better b4 you meditate then. If I happen to fall asleep, all would be good with me cause I work all night starting round 12:30am CST. I usually try to take a nap b4 I go to work anyways.

That is so cute that your daughter wants to participate. My daughter is the same way. She already has the Monopoly game sitting next to the fireplace. What I think is awesome is that whole cities are participating.

I never heard about this until I cme across your posting here. I checked it out and yes, I will definately participate in that. Actually it will be kind of fun. It'll be like living back in the 1800's, LOL! Just like Little House On The Prairie, haha. I will have to think of something to do though because I'll be alone at that time.

I didn't hear about this either. I get idealbite from care2.com in my inbox and that was one of the articles they were talking about with a link to the site. Thought it was pretty neat to share with e1 here as well. If you like to read, you can always read by candlelight.

I intend to participate. I heard that you were also supposed to turn off or unplug any electronics that use electricity.
