I started riding about 3 years ago, until family problems prevented me from doing what i love. now i live on a place that is dedicated to horses, and it is really depressing to know that i haven't ridden in over a year. i really miss it and i was thinking about leasing. what do you suggest? i have never done this before as i used to own a horse, so i need some advise. any help is greatly appreciated

It's been while since I've considered leasing, but at one time, I thought it was a great deal when I was considering buying. It would be even better if you can lease the horse you are actually thinking of buying. I didn't have my own space for a horse, so leasing would have been a good deal for me at that time because it usually included all the boarding, food, and vet care. I would still be responsible for all the grooming, mucking, tack, and exercise, but I didn't have to worry about a separate bill. It's important to establish a good relationship with the owner. See if you can work out a special deal with them. Perhaps they can help you with training and other issues that come up.
