I have to tear my room apart too as you can't even turn my TV on without the remote, and then there's the digi box that can't be turned on without the remote either. It does drive me mad when I lose them as it's usually just as something good is starting on another channel and I miss the beginning of it.

We keep very good track of our living room TV remote. My husband would feel naked without it.
A & J (whom share a room) are on their 3rd remote I think. The first one several years ago got the buttons ripped off and then got lost I think.
The second one got some of the buttons ripped out and then just stopped working. Actually it turns out it was the satellite receiver more than the remote so they got a new receiver - which in turn came with a new remote.
I've purchased several universal remotes over the years, to either consolidate, or replace old ones.
Maybe you should buy a few and keep them in different spots around the house.

I don't know where my remote control is, and I am not bothered, I am quite happy to get up and change the channels without using it. It's not essential to me. I don't have sky so I only have five channels and I usually watch the same channel all the time and I don't watch that much tv anyhow.

When my husband and I can't find our remote control, we try to remember who had it last, and where the last place it was that we had it. We look there, and we can usually find it that way. We only have a remote control on the TV in the bedroom (one in the living room doesn't have a remote), so if we lose the remote we know it's in the bedroom somewhere.

I keep looking and looking and looking until I find it. It is annoying because I have to get up to change the channel. You don't know how many times I have found the remote in silly places. One time I took it into the bathroom and then forgot I took it in there. I have left it on the kitchen counter. I guess I am just not thinking when I take it and leave it somewhere.

We keep ours on the television set. But, my hubby has a bad habit of moving it about. ONce I found it on the kitchen table. Drives me crazy. I even made a holder for them out of fabric that lays across the arm of the sofa. Hubby prefers to lay them wherever he feels he can access them.
