do we really need to kill chickens just because we want to eat them?

well, I was gone to drop one of my friend to the bus stop. and when I was coming back I saw a trolley puller was puling a trolley full of chickens.
I am a Vegetarian and a Animal Lover both, so was not able to see the cruelty people does just because they want to have a tasty meal.
so here is my question:
DO WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO END A LIFE JUST BECAUSE WE WANT TO HAVE A GOOD MEAL??!!

sorry,I am a meat eater, mainly beef, but a nice chicken now and then is ok.
and here is one thing to think about,if everyone was a veggie, how would the world handle all the animals that would be running wild because no one was killing them?
even wild animals kill other animals for food,it is called the chain of life.
I do not mind if you are a veggie or not,and I am not telling you it is right or wrong, please do not tell me to stop eating meat.
thank you.

well, I appreciate your thought my friend. And I wont stop you from eating whatever you want to ;)
but I want to ask one thing. You said that thing about wild life and stuff, its true. But then here comes the BIG thing. Why did human got civilized? and if we'll behave like animals then what's the difference between them and us? think about it my friend. Why we act like animals when we don't want to?
Think ;)
Regards
Saurabh

Actually, what makes you think humans are civilized?and what does that mean?
there are animals that are vegitarians as well as carnivores, and the human race is supposed to have evolved from animals.
I have also seen many times, where the animal world is far smarter and more civilized than we are.I find every one has a different lifestyle, and so long as they don't try to make others change, then fine.
to each their own.
If you are happy with your lifestyle, then fine, thats all that counts, and it does not harm the environment everyone should be happy.

We BREED animals for meat. If not for needing more land for grazing for more animals the meat-eating world demands, the environment would be in a much better shape than it is.
If we didn't breed so many animals, they certainly wouldn't reproduce as much as they do now.
and thank YOU! ...not

We absolutely do NOT have to kill chickens, cows, or any other animal simply to please our palate when there are plenty of other delicious, and often more healthful, meals. I've been a vegetarian for almost 20 years. Even my sister and boyfriend recently turned vegetarian, although my sister still eats seafood, but I don't eat red meat, poultry, chicken, eggs, seafood, or anything of the like.
I'm glad you're a vegetarian and think the world would be a better place if everyone was, and it would greatly help the environment!
