I was juat wondering if I am the only one who loves and hates their job, I love what I do and I give my all, I am very good at what I do and I even do more then I have to, my co-workers all let me know I am a great worker, but I don't hear a thing from any of my bosses, unless ofcourse something is to go wrong then their they are, pointing their fingers at me, how can I improve this I love my co-workers, well half of them atleast, the other half are the ones we all have to pick up the slack for, I am getting so tired of my job I want to quit, but I know I will miss my work and co-workers, what should I do, who else has the same kind of deal at work

You are NOT alone. I love the job itself. I love people. I can't stand the fact that we are treated like we are in high school. I understand there are certain requirements a boss has to have in order to make things run more smoothly. I would not want my bosses job, I am not sure if I could do it any better However, it seems that everyday the "board members" come up with more and more crap to make our jobs harder. I work in the only Call-Before-You-Dig center in Florida. There are curently 49 representatives employed to take care of the entire state of Florida, because over 60% of the "tickets" that are completed, are done over the internet. Yet we STILL have to push the program on every caller every time. Most know about it and don't want to do it. So its really annoying. During our busiest times 11-12 and 4-5 .. there needs to be anywhere between 30-40 people taking calls. We only have 15 people taking calls. That means that 25+ customers holding over 5 minutes because we are understaffed... this is an everyday occurance. It gets very stressful. I have been there 8 years. I have been passed over for a promotion to a different department 5 times. 1. Because (not to toot my own horn) but I am good at what I do. 2. The 2 department heads are always in a power struggle with one another so if my boss tells the other department head he can't have someone for that job... then we are denied the opportunity to even interview.
I could go on and on.. but I think everyone gets the point.
Why do I stay??? The benefits and pay are amazing, the job is a 45 second drive from my house or 2 minute walk. To get the same thing anywhere else, without a college education, and te way gas prices are... there is no way in the world I would survive. So I go in with a positive attitude, try to stay positive throughout the day... use the mute button A LOT... when my caller is an idiot and try to make it through the day without hanging myself with my phone cord. My boss is no consistent across the board with the punishments she hands out. She favors some and despises others.
