Prices up and jobs down

I live in Michigan. I was just reading a couple discussions on gas prices and what they are doing to the rest of the cost of living. There are homes in forclosure all over my state. People are losing their jobs and there are not enough new jobs to go around. So, you ask, why did I bring this up in the be happy discussion? Because those of us that have found our inner joy, true peace, need to help out those who haven't. I am a christian. And my peace comes from the Lord. I know that he will take care of me. If you have found the Lord, share Him. If you have found peace, share it. Those of us that can smile in the face of the turmoil in our world need to lift up those who are weeping.

What a wonderful discussion. Its nice to remember this at times, when life can get so hard. Gas prices are becoming outrageous! I dont know how much it costs in Michigan, but here in Texas, I just paid $3.28/gallon. It now costs around $60 to fill up my tank. I drive about 75 miles a day! And I only get 19mpg
Anyways thank you, for the uplifting view on our financial situations.

You are most welcome. I am always looking for the 'silver lining'. Gas is about the same here. My significant other is a truck driver. Diesel is outrageous! Over $4 a gallon everywhere. I believe in Jesus Christ and know that all here is a test to our faith in him. Thank you for the compliment on this discussion. I am thankful that the Lord has allowed me to touch your life in a possitive way. God bless.

On the news here in Canada last night, they reported that the salaries of the bigwigs at the hydro company are over $400,000 a year. Where are they getting that money? From charging us poor people an arm and a leg for electricity. It really peeves me. Those CEO's can afford to take a pay cut. If each of them took a $200,000 pay cut we would all be able to get a cut from our hydro bills.
I have had to turn to my church for assistance. This past week St. Vincent de Paul came to my house and gave me gift cards for groceries. It's not very much and I am not using it all at once. I am just lowering each bill over the next month. I hated having to call them. I feel like a real charity case.I came from an upper middle class family and because I got sick I have had to struggle. I have found the blessings in my illness (now illnesses) but it is still hard to see people earning that type of money that they are taking away from us poor folks. The same with the government bigwigs who earn big paycheques.
You said, "Those of us that can smile in the face of the turmoil in our world need to lift up those who are weeping." It hurts for people like me to have to ASK for help instead of having people judge you and not offer you assistance. I can't even get a part-time job BECAUSE of my illness. Where have all the good people gone?

The economy is not good all over the world. The ultra-rich are collecting up all the money and forgeting to follow Christ's teaching and take care of those less fortunate.

I'm also a Christian and I believe that the Lord will help those who believe in him, and that he will look after his believers throughout the turmoil that's currently going on in the US and now in the UK. It's good to see the positives in life, and the turmoil must bring people closer together, even in the unfortunate circumstances of people losing their homes and moving in with their relatives.

I believe that, too. But I also believe that the Book of Proverbs teaches us that the Lord helps those who help themselves. He teaches us to work and we will enjoy his blessings. So I believe that, even if a person losses their job, they should work hard everyday doing the Lords work.
