How to optimize my blog in the search engines?

I have written many blogs on various topics only to stumble upon an obstacle of not being able to optimize it into search engines. Is it that my blogs have to be very long to get them optimized, or is it the number of posts in it that matters? This problem has really created a big nuisance in my blogging. Please suggest me what to do to optimize it properly?

If there are a lot of websites linking back to your blog, this will help your search engine optimization. You should add a link to your blog whenever you have the opportunity. This is easy to do with social networking, anywhere you have a profile which allows a link to be added, submitting to blog directories, writing and submitting free articles, posting in forums where you are allowed a signature link, joining community websites, etc.
You should be adding new content to your blog by writing on it every day or several times a week as search engines will pick up on this and give it higher ranking than a static website.

Try Ping-o-matic. Go to http://pingomatic.com. It is a service used to update search engines that your blog has been updated. :)
