Did pricing your items using the .99/.01 fee help or hurt your sales?

I started an auction yesterday afternoon, and am really surprised that I have a few views but not watcher or bid. It is a lot of boys clothing - 8 items shirts, shorts, jeans, sweatshirt jacket - listed for .99 w/6.00 shipping.
I noticed there are a lot of items listed using the .01 cent listing fee costs (anything under .99 cents). Now I am wondering if I listed the items for the correct price. Would I be doing better if I had started the auction at $3?
Have you taken advantage of the decrease cost in listing fees until Monday? Do you think this has helped or hurt your sales with the number of other people listing on ebay this weekend?

I guess there are so many items now being listed that people have a lot more choices. I don't think sales will be hurt too much though.

i tink putting things priced at 99 cents is a real good thing because it gets more lookers and if it has more lookers then more people will want it . you can always put a reserve on the item and if the reserve isnt met you dont have to sell it

I had a couple items that I would have started that low anyway (children's books) so I did list those, but I didn't list stuff that I don't want to sell that low at that start price. I don't use the reserve option, so it doesn't make sense to start an auction so far from what I think it should sell for.
What size are the boys clothes? And what's your ebay ID? My son is about a size 6- if they happen to be in his range, I'll check them out :)
