Downloading music.... Do you really think it hurt any company?

I do not believe that it has really hurt the music industry really. I think they got all upset by the idea, but then realized that they could never admit that it DIDN'T hurt their sales so they continued to whine about it. I think what's worse is Madonna's little tirade about it stealing from her.... They just need to lighten up.

it does hurt music company and their losses may run to a couple of millions, i prefer to buy music if i did like it, and i would advies everyone to do so, because when you downlaod anything the artist and the company does not get anything for which they have worked. so depriving anyone of his hard earned money would not be a good thing to do.

People still go to live shows. People still buy products with the band's name on it and such. I don't agree that it really hurts.

I could not care less about the music industry and downloading. It's interesting that as soon as the government makes a law, that determines whats right or wrong. I don't think that's necessarily true. I don't think downloading music is wrong and I do think abortion is wrong. Just because a law says something is right or wrong does not necessarily make it true. I feel absolutely no remorse when I download music from rich people like Madonna. They are multi-millionaires and they need to get over their greed and their ego. On another note, I won't download music from lesser known bands or musicians. I'll by their cd's because I want to support them. They don't have the bucks or the egos of people like Madonna.

I think that it improves the music industrie's exposure in the long run as people still go to live shows. Stupid Madonna played here a few months ago and her show was sold out at €300+ per ticket! There are bands that I didn't know about and after downloading a song or two decided I liked them and went to their live show and paid for my tickets. I know a lot of people who do this.... I think they are big babies. (Also I heard from some people I know that they stopped listening to certain bands altogether because of their public disdain for downloading.)

I download music sometimes. But if I really like something I want to pay the artist and I like the album release better then anything I can make anyway. I have a lot more music I payed for then the stuff I downloaded. And I am not convince that it has really hurt the industry that much. I agree that they just need to lighten up about it.

I might hurt them in the long run, but I can't really see why it would matter. If they were that worried about it, they could make it so you only got 30 second demos or something. I have only had my husband downloaad 3 songs for me ever. One is a song I could not find on cd ANYWHERE. The other 2 were so I could sing to them later. I don't have the cds. Otherwise I always buy.... Madonna just needs to get a grip. She has ooddles of cash anyway.
