What Do You Do About Nasty Comments?

I generally try to leave all my comments so it doesn't look like I'm just deleting people who don't like me. I'll leave the "you suck" comments just to laugh at them. But some people go over the top. Today I got a comment on one of my videos where someone said that I needed to remember that I used to perform all alone and not be such a sellout. I have no idea what that meant, as I used to only perform in groups mostly and YouTube doesn't make me any money. Then they proceeded to call me a d*ke and the N word (I'm not black, not that it would be okay if I was either). So that was I think the first comment I have ever actually removed on YouTube. And I proceeded to block the user as well. Since the comment was on my video that was previously stolen, I'm thinking that person might have created this other ID or something just to post that comment. It just seems weird to me though how people would waste their time writing nasty comments about people they don't even know. I almost feel sorry for these people who have no value to their life. Almost.

I've never understood nasty hateful comments. I mean if you are responding to a discussion like that, why bother. If your responding to another member's post, why bother. I mean it's just so pointless unless your looking for a fight. I've even tried to defuse a fight before just so ppl can move on. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I didn't bother to respond to them. Sometimes I'll admit I do like to have fun with trolls, but lately I don't have the time.

i don't really know what you're talking about. about the YouTube thing, i mean, since i don't really visit that site(lack of time) but i'm interested about the nasty comment thing. i agree with you. these people have nothing more worthwhile going on in their lives than dissing people they don't even know. for some weird reason they get satisfaction from that. there's nothing nasty about negative comments (the proverbial: you can't please everybody) but i think there's a decent way of doing it. if you don't agree with the things you see on the internet and it happens you're free to leave a comment then just be glad you have the opportunity to express your opinions but don't abuse it. it separates you from animals, that way.

I don't have a problem with negative comments, I'll leave those even if they aren't constructive criticism. But I think name calling goes beyond negative and into the nasty comment category. I guess you don't need to be a YouTube user to know about nasty comments though, any message board member has seen their fair share of them as well... usually from trolls. I guess YouTube can have trolls too.

OMG!!! That's awful! I don't blame you one bit for removing that?! Is there a way to report that too?? WOW! Some people!!

I don't think there is a way to report a comment once you remove it. Otherwise, I would have. As it is, I'm glad at least I was able to remove it.

And you were able to block them too :) Otherwise they'd probably just do it again. Those comments are still very shocking though!

Little people with little minds think little thoughts. Feeling sorry for them is probably the only thing you should feel. If they have to belittle others to feel good about themselves then that doesn't really say much about them.

I haven't had any demeaning comments lately. But what I would do is report them.

You have to ignore idiot people like that! Some people don't have any brains, so they make up for it with their unintelligent mouth!

I ignore the troll comments for the most part. If the comments cross the line into threats or harassment, I'll report them. Unfortunately, I've found that "MoneyTube" rarely takes action against these people. The trolls who do get their accounts deleted can just open another one by getting a different e-mail address through one of the free sites like Gmail and Yahoo. A popular YouTube user recently shut down his account because he was tired of the harassment he and others have been receiving, along with the lack of response from the administrators.

I understand that the administrators are probably pretty busy. I didn't bother reporting the comments since I was able to just remove them and block the user myself. I might have reported them if I wasn't afraid of leaving the comments up longer.

I have never been on YOUTUBE.I do knwo about the nasty comments. If i don'thave something nice to say to someone I don't say nothing at all. That was just how I was raised to respect people. If someone tries to say something mean or harsh to me over the internet I just ignore them or make laugh at them. Now in real life is someone says something rude it is a little harder to walk away from but I do my best.I do nto like confortations and try to be nice to everyone.
