catty and doggy relationship :-)

It's amazing how a cat and a dog get along together so well:-) I have seen and observed this kind of togetherness with my doggy and his cat friend, everytime I get to see them outside our doorhouse and I find them very sweet and caring towards one another. I do have thoughts before that they were great enemies since I have heard stories about them from others but then I've found out through my pets that sometimes stories that people will tell aren't true at times 'coz I have seen in my own eyes the closeness between this two pets. Is there any related stories that all of you could share and give some thoughts about how a so called 'great enemies' could become 'great friends'? May it be either in forms of animals or human beings somehow.
