My dog is an inside dog, but he is crate-trained and has to stay in his crate at night and when we go out as he's got separation anxiety and is very likely to destroy things if not crated. It's his safe place so he's much calmer there.

In this case the crate at night and when you are not home is probably the best option, as long has he gets to be out the rest of the time.

Yeah of course he's out the rest of the time, he's always following us around wherever we go. He only needs to be in it a few hours during the day anyway, and he's perfectly happy sleeping during that time.

My pets come into the house, theres no way on earth I would cage them, whats the point in having them then....They go to the door if they need to go outside.

at this moment i have only one pet which is my beautifully cat, sheilla. i rarely put her into her cage, cause i know that she would feel uncomfortable too. in daily, i also let her around inside my place and i am not worry that she would do any mess up with her own "thing" cause she already knows how to use toilet in our bathroom. she just likes to play inside house and seldom to go outside mt place. if she wants to go outside, she would miaw me in gentle but after few minutes (normally takes about 15 minutes) she back again to my place

Well we have a rabbit in a cage but that's it. The dog and cats have full run of the house. I can't see having them in a cage. I have them so that they are a part of our lives, it's a bit hard to give them pettings and hugs when they are in a cage. I can understand doing the cage bit with a dog when they are a puppy to help with housebreaking but once they are house broken I can't see using one. I also can't understand having a dog and keeping them outside all the time. I want them to be a part of our family. If they are always outside why have them? It just doesn't make sense to me.

My dogs stays indoors 24/7 and are free to roam inside the house. They can be found anywhere from the bedroom, sala, dining and they are free to go out anytime they wish.

When our dog was younger, we crated her. Then when she was about 4 or so we started letting her stay out at night, then when we weren't home. Now she's got the run of the house all the time. I've given the crates away a long time ago.

Every dog I've ever had was crate-trained but I never keep them in it. I always have one set up in the house in case the dogs want to go in it themselves. My current dog seldom goes in it but whenever he's bad, that's where he heads. As if he puts himself in a time-out of sorts. lol We think it's funny he does that. Very, very rarely do I actually close the door on him.

we do not cage up the cats or dogs but have caged up rabbits, guinea pigs, degu, and chickens. Though we often let the rabbits loose outside to enjoy the exercise...and we like to free range the chickens when we are home and it is daylight hours - so that they get the exercise and all those lovely bugs and blossoms that add to the nutritional value of their eggs and makes them all around happy little poultry :)

i have a small dog which they called a toy dog. I dont let my dog in a cage. infact i even let my dog sleep on my bed at night. It sleep well and like it very much. Good thing it knows where the bathroom is to do the call of nature. We really love our dog and its not good to see it being in a cage. I believe that our pets also have feelings so we should show them how we care for them coz they also know how to show their love for us...

I cage trained my dogs and I put them in a cage when we leave the house for a long time, like out to eat or whatever. But otherwise I'm a stay at home mom and they are always out with me :)

Our puppy sleeps in a crate, and stays in it when my husband and I are not home. When he is older, hopefully we can leave him out, and let him sleep outside the crate. Right now though he's still learning what not to chew on. He stays inside the house, but when he's out of his crate, he has bells that hang from the back door that he goes and nuzzles so he can be let out to do his business.

I would only cage a dog if absalutely necessary. Some dogs are comfortable in cages, some are not. Dogs should be allowed to come inside. Our dog liked to be outside during the day and inside at night. We let her choose when she wanted to be inside or outside.

When my dogs were just puppies we use to put them in cages at night in the kitchen so they wouldnt gt into any trouble but once we trained them there was no need for them to be locked in their cages at night..and I've never caged any of my cats...

My dogs have all been crate trained, but as adult animals that are well trained and obedient 99.99% of the time the use of the crate is their choice. I would not have a pet and keep it outside. My pets are part of my family.

My dogs and cats all go in and out of the house. I don't keep any of them in a cage but I did cage train my younger dog when she was a puppy. I fed her in there and to this day, she is six now, she thinks of the cage as her own little home. She very neatly keeps all her toys in there and she still eats in it. I also had another dog that I only had for a short time cause I was helping to train her to be a guide dog for the blind, and she was kept in a cage also as a puppy, which does help to house break the puppies too. And with the puppy being trained to be a guide dog, they have to learn to be tied up or kept in a cage at times, so they start them early. But I don't ever think pets should be kept in a cage all the time. In fact, it is really sad to see animals all locked up.

The only time we did was when we were house training her when she was a puppy and we were gone at work. As soon as she was house trained we got rid of the cage, she hated and it seemed to cruel to keep her in there. Some people say that dogs don't mind cages and some actually like them but I don't really believe that. If someone never lets their dogs in the house they don't deserve to have them. Dogs are domestic animals they should be treated as part of the family. I know some people only have dogs for hunting, breading, farm work, and therefore don't treat them like part of the family but instead as animal slaves. Dog's deserve better than that.

My pet is only put inside a cage when nobody is home so she can't get in trouble
