I am so predictable when I go out to eat at a resaurant I order nearly the same thing everytime. I usually order spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread and a lemonade. AT times I may order a Ceasar Salad. Other then that I can not think of many other times that I have ordered something different, maybe a steak on the odd occasion. As you can see I am happy with my predictable life don't like change much.
How about you are you a simple girl like me, or do you like variety? What are some of the main meals that you like to order?

I hate adventuring on food especially if I'll have to pay for it because it would be a waste of everything - the cook's effort to prepare the meal, the waiter's effort to serve me the meal and of course, my money. I always go for spaghetti, carbonara, lasagna or chicken alfredo with garlic and sometimes iced tea or just water.
I only try out new food when my friends or family recommend it and I have enough money to pay for it and to pay for another meal in case i can't eat what I ordered.

I agree it is a waste of money if you try something new and you don't like it. I love all those dishes you mentioned, another pasta lover here.

Most of the time I will try something new. But if there is a restaurant where I have eaten something there that I really, really like I will go back to that restaurant just to get that item. So I will likely not be ordering something different. But most of the time, I will try something new.

When I go out to a restaurant I want to get something I don't get at home. It depends on the restaurant though. When I go to East Side Mario's I pretty much always order the seafood pasta platter. But at other restaurants I will peruse the menu. Unfortunately with my diet limitations I do find myself ordering the same thing much of the time. There is one restaurant that my husband and I frequent for lunch that I will order something different according to what I want at the time. My husband, however, is very predictable. At THAT restaurant he always orders bangers and mash (mashed potatoes and sausages), at other restaurants he always order Fetucinni Alfredo with Italian Sausage.

Your husband does sound very predictable like me. Bangers and mash though, you could eaily cook that one if not better at home lol. That would be hard having diet limitations, when you like to try a variety of foods.

I do like variety, kiran, but I'm afraid that I am a bit partial to certain dishes. My favorite eat-out foods are chicken fish and Chinese. Once in a while I like to go out for barbecued ribs also. So, yes, I guess I'm more predictable than I thought.

Barbecued ribs, mmmmm, tasty, good dish to go for. Seems like you like a bit of variety but not too much.

In a way yes, I'm a vegetarian and they usually only have 1 or 2 things on the menu I like! When I get chinese I always get beancurd in black bean sauce with boiled rice! i always get the same veggie pizza. I don't really mind though.

That would be tough being a vegetarian and going to restaurants. Your choices would be very limited. I thin restaurants need to cater for the vegetarians alot more.

i don't go out to eat very often. When I do though most of the time I order something different. Although there are a few restaurants that I order the same thing every time at. I guess it really all depends on how I am feeling. I mean sometimes I like change and sometimes I don't.

True, I guess moods would influence your food choices and the quantity that you eat. If you were feeling sad you would probably stick to the usual and eat lots of it. However if you were happy you may order a bit of everything. Good point!

After years of going to so many restaurants and tasting so many varieties i have come to understand the best ones in my city and know what to order in a particular restaurant. So it is almost same in a same restaurant. As I read about new additions and the reviews about them in the week end editions of the local news papers I tend to try the new ones to .If they are good I stick to them and add them to my favorite order.

Wow you do your research on new additions in the paper, never thought of doing that. It is always good to go for your favourite meal, that way you know what you are getting and you will be satisfied.

My husband's just as predictable as your are....but not me. I want to try something new everytime.
so, we've come to a compromise....when we go out together as a family, we usually order the same stuff....some favourite typical Indian dishes (my husband prefers the food from the state of Andhra Pradesh...which is very spicy).....and I have my variety when I go out alone or when I am with my girlfriends. I get tired of eating the same thing even if it is something I like.
We usually get a Biriyani (chicken or lamb...I like lamb and my husband likes chicken).

Chalk and Cheese hey, good to see you and your husband comprimising. It is strange how some of us are happy with the same thing all the time, can't work out why I am happy with the same old thing everytime. Glad you can enjoy your variety of foods with your girlfriends.

I almost always order the same thing whenever I go out to eat. For example, when I order a pizza I get the combination on pan crust. I even order it the same size each time. Okay, not each time LOL, but almost every time. I did this when I was going to school too. I was so predictable one of the student workers knew what I would order before I ordered it! So sometimes I would mix it up a little just to keep him on his toes! LOL

That is interesting how you also ordered the same things in school too. I think I was a bit more adventurous at school, I remember ordering different foods each day at the tuckshop. Don't lnow what happened as I got older I started to order the same things everytime, lol.

I am so boring and predictable. I always order the same one or two things off the menu at a particular restaurant. Someone who has known me any length of time can place my order for me (the waitresses often just ask, "The usual?").

hey kiran1978!I don't order the same menu everytime.Like today, instead of ordering ala-carte like I usually do at this japanese place,I ordered a set instead.I am happy being unpredictable at times. It makes life more challenging don't you think?

My problem is that often they come with things that I don't want. Like Mexican food - Love most kinds but I don't like the beans and rice that come with the meal. So I almost always order ala cart. But ala cart is limited. Throw in, like you said Kiran, I dont like to take a chance on my food! I can't go out to eat to often, and if I try something that isn't good, I am mad at myself all day for wasting my money!!! But then agin, I guess if you never try, you'll never find anything new, so I give it a shot every now and then. Just shot it last month, so maybe next month I'll try again...Maybe!

I don't go out much so I don't want to "waste" it, yes, I usualy do order the same thing so I know for sure I'll get a good meal, it will be good and I'm going to love it. I just recenetly went to our favorite steak house, they have other things, but I always get the California Beef Dip if it is a lunch time and a steak at dinnertime. We went for lunch, I reviewed the menu and thought I'd do something different so I got a grilled chicken with gravey dinner. Yuck! Okay, it wasn't yuck, but it wasn't that good and I mised my great beef dip and basically wasted my money and a fun time. So, yeah, I'll usually stick to the same thing.

Yes that is exactly the reason why I stick to the same old meal as you may try something new and it will be yuck! the California Beef dip does sound tasty though.

It is so good! Has melted jack cheese - I ask for no peppers as I can't eat them, and the best thick grilled bread and comes with fries and cole slaw $8! Can't beat that with a stick!

When I get the chance to go out for a meal, which is not very often at all, not as much as I would like to anyway, I like to try different things. I do love a gammon though, with pineapple and chips and salad. I do not eat chips at home so you have to have them when you go out. I like to look at the specials board and see what they have on there. I am not a steak lover really, I find it quite boring, I could not eat a spag bol in a restaurant, it would end up everywhere!! It is such a messy dish, although I love garlic bread.

Hello again my friend, I do not go out alot either, really hard to with kids. The specials board is good idea, I like to pick from there too if they have my usual dish. What is a gamon, I feel silly, have not heard of that before?

Sorry I only just spotted your question, gammon is like bacon but it is like a big thick piece of bacon, I have not got a clue what part of the piggie it is off, but it is exceedingly nice and the fat is definately the best bit!!

I order almost the same food too, I love chicken wings, or any kind of way a chicken is fried, I love spicy foods. My husband would say to get something else, which I don't know which one to order, so he would end up getting something else for me. And I would love it! I like variety, but I always stick to what I usually wanted.

I am quite often predictable when eating out. In different places I go to, I usually order the same or similar things at each restaurant. At the Ground Round (before it closed up, & at Applebees's, it is usually a cheeseburger & fries. I almost always order the same thing or something similar at Chinese restaurants, & it's always extra cheese as the topping on pizza. I do every so often change, but I almost always end up going back to my regular favorites. That is, if I don't end up staying with what I changed to.

No, I'm not predictable. I love variety in everything! I used to go to lunch every day with two of my office mates. One of them ordered the same things at each restaurant we went to. Then she would get tired of the restaurant! lol
One day she said, "They have the same old things all the time." I said, "No, you have the same old things all the time! Why don't you order something different?" I knew she was getting ready to give up that restaurant, too! lol She just laughed. But she ordered the same old thing again! lol
We're all just different, I guess.

Yes we are all different, that is funny story about your friend how she thinks that the restaurant sells the same old food. She really is stuck in her set routine of ordering the same thing each time. Do not think I am that bad lol, yet. Glad to hear you are tasting a variety of foods.

I'm not a simple girl...actually not a girl at all, but I am very predictable. I am probably the only one in my circle where my friends can order for me and serve it exactly as I like. Thought not really food, one pet peeve of my friends is that I rarely put a lid on a cup when I get a fountain drink. I think they simply get in the way, my friends think it's just a little wierd.

Wow you must be predictable if your friends know exactly what to order for you. I did mean to say in my discussion simply girl/guy, forgot to edit, lol.
