i do the same as like you hun. i prefer to talk openly in here although in general forum rather than talked openly in the real environtment. i don't know why but i feel much comfortable to do it in here.
perhaps, none of us able to see each other so we feel free to express anything in here, but i also don't think so. it seems the opinion that we have in our discussion more objective than we asked directly to our relatives around us, am i right? in here, we don't make any differentiation between your social position. the only different in here, active members and inactive members

I could talk about absolutely anything on here, and I often do, I am not embarrassed or ashamed about anything that I have done or that has happened to me. A lot of the things I do talk about on here, no one else in my life really knows anything about, simply because it is not the done thing, strange I think.

Yes definately that is one of the greatest things about mylot. I think we definately say more as we are always tryig to think of our next interesting discussion to get responses to. It is funny, I don't put that much effort when talking to people, thinking, "mmmm I wonder what cool discussion I can come up with next." I love it how we can talk about a range of topics everyday. That is something you don't get in everyday life, discussing a wide variety of topics.

If I asked some of the questions I ask on here to people where I live, they would just look at me in disgust! A strange bunch they are where I live, no sense of fun in them, I think I was starting to become like them too, until I found my place here!! I am now starting to lighten up a bit and have a bit more fun again!!

Yes Ido find that I am more open and relaxed as I can often write what i feel or do more easily than I can talk about it to someone. I just feel a little freer here than I am when talking to my friends.

Reserved is my middle name I am afraid. I have opened up on here about a lot of things that I have buried in me for years! Plus I am finding out who I am, other than being wife and mum.

While on Mylot i am a LOT more open than in real life. I feel as if i have nothing to hide. I dont really have anything to lose by sharing what i think and i actually enjoy it. The more open i am the more time i can spend because i do not have to worry over everything i write. I really enjoy being open on Mylot and helping people more than in real life. This might be weird but i really enjoy being online. When i first made my account i did not think i would be this open and enjoy this but it seems i actually am.

The things I'm more open about are usually the things that would make people uncomfortable in normal conversation, but are acceptable online. Talking about my post-traumatic stress disorder, for example, or really anything from my history.
Otherwise, I think I'm pretty much the same online as offline.

Yes I can talk about things on here that have happened to me that I cannot talk to my parents about because they do not understand, do not believe me or just because I simply cannot tell them, and the same with my hubby. Some things I just cannot talk to him about because he cannot handle them.

Yes definitely. It's easier opening up to others that don't know you, than to those who do. I can get a reaction online and not let it bother me, but in real life it tends to stay with me especially if it's said by a friend or family member.

Yes I know what you mean, it does stay with you longer if someone you know says it to you, on here it just washes over me, it can even make me laugh!

I find that I'm not all that much more open but it's easier for me to type words then to find the right words to speak. I don't know if that makes sense but when typing it gives me a chance to gather my thoughts, I can re-read and edit if need be and I can change my attitude if I want to. When your speaking to someone one on one that isn't possible. Once it's said...that's it.

hmmm
not particularly. I pretty much am what you see here. Of course I am more open, with family members and close friends - than I am here.
I guess a lot of people feel the anonymity protects them and therefore they act however the wish while online, but me - I guess I can not so easily escape feeling accountable for my words and actions.

I think that you are so right. The great thing about myLot is that we can hide behind our anonymity. I know that I have told people things on here that I would agonise about saying to my real life friends. I have built up a small community of myLotters that correspond with me outside of myLot too, and they know who I am really and have seen photos of me. But there is still a mystery. On the other hand, it is quite nice to let my inhibitions go a little and share one or two secrets that I might not otherwise.

Thats how I feel P1kef1sh, I too have said things on here that I have never spoke about to anyone. I actually think it does me some good too in a funny way.

I have always found it easier to express myself in writing than by talking, so I can be more open in myLot. Also in myLot I can share my views and ideas with thousands of people around the world and I don't have that opportunity in my normal everyday life.
I have found some really interesting discussions here which make me think and write about how I feel and what I believe. We don't always discuss those things with our friends.

I also find it easier to write about things, I clam up when I try to talk about things.

When writing down on mylot, its like writing your down ideas/thoughts or things that you would put in your diary. Its a whole lot easier as you dont have to face the people who add to the discussion!!
I find it alot easier to express myself more through mylot than face-to-face but you have to be careful how you word things as sometimes it can be read in a nasty way even though its not meant to be, thats why voices are good as its the way we say things that help people to understand what we are trying to say or mean!
Also it the variety of discussions available aswell.

I know, you do have to be careful how you word things!! I do find it a lot easier to express myself and say what I am really feeling, it is strange.

Not me, as I am just who I am pretty much wherever I go. In fact, because of security issues, I am probably a bit more guarded in what I say here than locally. I will say, though, that I see many people here who really do seem to leave their inhibitions at the doorstep when they enter here. I think some should be a bit more careful. These must be the same people who sleep with their windows open at night.

I don't have the habit of talking much, but I really talk about things which I think the listeners appreciate to hear. The greatest advantage of talking about a strange topic on mylot is that one is always likely to find someone interested on that topic. This makes me more comfortable to start a peculiar discussion. Its only that I don't like my personal matters to be exposed, so I keep myself disciplined in that matter.
