WHy do you like to be appreciated?

I guess we, humans, crave for appreciation as much as food but then why do we like appreciation so much? For me, I like it because I think of it as a reward for all my hard work..how about you?

Its human nature,
Just knowing that someone else recognizes that you have done a good job is enough to motivate you to continue doing more.
Napoleon once said "Give me enough medals, and I will win any war."
When he said this he meant that by rewarding his troops with ribbons and medals, he could convince his young soldiers to forge out into battle with great confidence.
I was in the Army 21 years and that theory is still used today.
