I'd go with canon, because lately the cameras I've seen that are produced by Sony require rather expensive cords to connect to computers for charging/transferring images. [ie. You'd better not break/lose the cord, if you get a Sony.]
(My friend got a cybershot, but the person who sold it to her said that they didn't have the cord anymore, which seemed fine except for the fact that you need the cord to charge the batteries, even if you do get a memory card to transfer your pictures. So, we started looking for the cord, and they only make the kind that look like an octopus, with a billion connections you don't need so they can justify selling it for $60 or something ridiculous.)

I have had bad experiences with Canon equipment, I got a Canon printer once and it caused me so much problems that I decided NEVER to get anything made by Canon again, so I always go for Sony I have never ever had any problems with a Sony product, so that is my personal recommendation, go with Sony!

I like canon. I guess both are good but based on my experience, canon last long.

both are realy god camera, but i think what you should look for is 1-price 2- megapixels 3- and how many pictures and/or videos it holds for example i have a sony cyber shot it hold over 100 and something pictures and a few videos and i only got for 129.99. so i guess it depends on your needs and how many pics.
