Do you know about the new cyber cops? An international alliance of the US, the UK, Austrailia, New Zealand, and Canada to fight cyber crime. They are training cops to patrol cyber space and catch cyber crooks internationally. They are able to share knowledge and tools for crime fighting and also synchronize national laws. Is this going to affect our online safty? And what of online privacy? What do you think of this idea?

I didn't know that they were they were doing this either on national or a coordinated international basis. I know that locally they have been using undercover police officers to locate online child predators locally and arresting them. They have also had a fairly high conviction rate. I am not aware of other uses of cyber cops, but I do know that there are a number of crimes and criminals on the internet from stalkers to identity thieves along with the child predators. I would be interested in hearing what your daughter turns up.

I am said daughter. Check out this link for specifics www.fbi.gov/page2/marcho8/cybergroup/_031708.html This group was started in 2006, and meet regularly to share intelligence and tools. Their main focus is to synchronize national laws to prevent cyber criminals from hiding out in other countries and attacking their vicitims from afar. All-in-all I think this rogram is built on a good foundation. But when it comes to government and putting my trust in them to protect us, I have no faith.
