I'm Addicted to Raven - The Secret Temple - A Pagan Style TV Show

Does anybody else watch this fantasy, children's game show, which is shown on CBBC in the afternoon, and on Sunday mornings? I'm hooked on this pagan-style show, starring James Mackenzie, as Raven. He has black feathers in he back of his hair and on the shoulders of his black cloak, so they look like wings, and he carries a staff with a raven's head on it, as shown in the picture. In the show, Raven travels to a distand Eastern Land to retrieve a sacred elixir from the Secret Temple, which will restore his homeland, after it being frozen by Nevar. Four teams of four warriors and Satyarani aid him in his quest. Along the way, the warriors have to undertake certain tests, closely watched by Nevar, who follows them to the Eastern Land after freezing Raven's homeland.
The mysterious, cloaked, dark figure of Nevar, uses an all-seeing eye, and his army of demons to hamper their progress. The eye is a dish of water through which he can spy on Raven and his warriors, much like a scrying bowl. Satyarani calls Nevar "The Dark One". The sixteen warriors are wittled down gradually by being eliminated for either running out of time in a timed game, or by being caught by one of Nevar's demons, until three are left. These three make the final quest for the elixir.. two further are eliminated with the winner finding the elixir. The quest ends with a Time of Reckoning when Raven and Nevar fight. Raven falls back and the Temple collapses, but he transforms into his bird form, flies free and meets the winning warrior and Satyarani outside the temple. The winner is presented with a golden staff and bestowed with the title, "(Player Name) Guardian of the Golden Staff, Hero of the Eastern Land, Conquerer of the Temple". He and Raven return to the homeland with the elixir so as to restore it and Satyarani returns to her land.
I love this show, even though it's a kid's show. It's quite magickal, and the tests (games) are quite medieval. Does anybody else watch this, and become fascinated with it? If so, what do you think of it, and its pagan, romantic influence on kids? I guess it's not as bad as Harry Potter!

I think if you go to the BBC2 listings, there might be videos to watch. I'll check that out, and also in YouTube. What is HP, my friend? Bear with me... I'm going to take a look for a link, so that you can see it for yourself.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

I found a four and a half minute video for you, my friend. I think the kids find it a great adventure.

It's similar in a way, to our adult show, called The Crystal Maze. On that, you have to collect crystals for passing similar tests. The crystals give them time in the Crystal Dome, at the end, where they catch floating papers for their prizes. Here are a couple of clips from the Crystal Maze... they follow each other, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them, too.

Now, why would either of us want to grow up? lol. I enjoy being the way I am... I don't want to be a grumpy granny!
I think you might enjoy it, and I found a link for a video so Raydene could see what it was about, as they don't have it in the States. It's only a four and a half minute clip out of a thirty minute show but it gives the general idea of how the show pans out. It's not unlike the Crystal Maze, but it's for children and mainly outdoor challenges. I'm sure you'll like Raven as well, as he's a Scot!
Here's the link, if you'd like a short preview... it's on BBC2 on Sunday morning CBBC and at least one afternoon in the week, but you could perhaps check that on your teletext.

Oh, Mummmmm! What are you like? He he. My girls like watching that - it's a kids programme. I suppose that's ok if you like it, because I watch it with the girls. It's a good programme and I think they should have more of that type of programme for the young people to participate in. I think you might be right in that it might portray paganism as a romantic thing, when I know it's a more serious belief than that, but it's still good the way it's done. I like the significance of the rings they collect, and the feathers, which represent the number of lives they have.

Hah! You know how much I love all these mystical and magickal things, and I think the girls like me to be like that.
Yes, I like the rings and the feathers. I even find the demons quite interesting, which is worrying, to say the least! I also like the way Raven magicks back the warriors and magicks away their feathers (lives) in a burst of stars, just like Merlin.
Brightest Blessings, and thanks for the ribbing! he he he

One or two didn't think you did, my friend. So, I found a four and a half minute clip, which you can take a look at if you'd like. It will give you some idea of the concept of the show and the challenges...

Afraid i haven't seen this one Darkwing although I have seen Raven on BBC! - my daughter loves it! I don't see that there is any problem with its influence on children - it gives them an all round education on different beliefs which can only be a good thing! Glad you enjoy it honey - I am definitely going to keep an eye out for it! xxx

It sounds like the same one you've seen my friend. It's on CBBC, normally BBC2 version, here, but it might differ in your region. They do tend to vary from region to region.
I think the first one may have just been called Raven, but the new one is called Raven - The Secret Temple. Take a look at this clip, my friend. You'll soon know by the Scottish accent Raven has! No offense meant.

Yep it is from the same series sweetheart so I have watched it! According to Niall there are about 3 from different series but all intertwined! Apparently the presenters co[presented one series! I would ask Niamh about it but she would probably want to tell me every detail of every problem and it would take hours! lol xxx
