I've had a few friends lately that are really stressed out by work. One friend drinks to relieve stress (i don't agree with that as a way but each to their own) another friend recently has just been letting the stress build and build and build until the blew up at their boss and almost lost their job. I know i deal with stress by quilting, reading listening to music or even exercising. Doing something anything that doesnt relate to work to take my mind off things. How about you guys..what do you do when you're stressed?

Usually what I do is go to the local unemployment office and put my job application in for the post office. Then I head over to the local sporting good store and load up on ammo for my rifle. Once I get the job at the Post Office and get my uniform. I load up and head for the local McDonalds. By the time I'm done, I'm stress free. Just Joking. One of the ways I try to relieve stress is by joking around. It's one of the best stress breakers you can find. If that doesn't work I try to play games at Pogo, play some kind of sport or go fishing with my kids. There is one other thing, but it wouldn't be polite to comment on it. But it is a great stress reliever. I find that anything that gets my mind of my day helps relieve stress. Good Topic....Thanks

I can understand that. I use computers at work to do paperwork everyday. But when I'm at home I use them to play games with the kids and that helps me relax. I actually thinkj spending time with my family helps me more than anything to help me relax.

Joking around is always fun. Fishing is always nice and relaxing too. For me...if im fustrated/stressed about my job i just stay away from the computer (i'm a computer tech) because im likely to find something wrong with it and think i should fix it now and then it stresses me more/...or fustrates me more

i am a single mom of four kids and can you imagine how stressful that can be. i like a good massage when i am stressed. but i cant get that all the time for it is expensive. so the other one i do is to have a good cup of coffee and a foot spa.

ooh massages are so nice. When i was little my mom used to bribe me and my sisters with quarters or promises of all the change in her pocket so we would rub her back or brush her hair.

If get stress I just stay in a place where nobody can talk to me and make myself think of whatever without distractions around. That way, I can give myself and my mind a rest by not minding the hassle around me. I sometimes go out and stay in a coffee shop and have a mug, sit and watch people go by but never bring a company. Hehhehe.. I don't want people sharing things with me when I'm too stress with something. Sometimes, I stay in bed, grab a book or listen to music and have a mug of coffee.

Well, I have been recently facing this challenge where I work. A situation happened to where some people complained about me to where my Boss believed all of them over me, and said I was the one causing the problems, and now all of them seem to think they are better than me. I was quite stressed and at times, still am. But I am just biding my time now as my 2 yrs. with this company is quickly approaching, and since I have a 2 week paid vacation coming up, I will wait it out and try to line up a New job somewhere else for when this ends. But I am applying elsewhere in the meantime, and if something else opens up that would be better, I will consider taking it for sure. What do I do to relieve stress? I come home and take my mind off of it by posting here in myLot, and I also Pray and Trust and believe God in helping get me thru this situation. It may take time, but I know if I include God in everything I do, everything will be alright.

I had a job i just couldnt handle the stress with...not a stressful job more stress with the boss shorting me 4 or 5 hours of pay a week. I ended up quitting and finding another job so i was a happier person. Sometimes the best you can do is find somewhere less stressful.

When I feel stress at work, I usually sing just to release my stress and feel relax. Then I go to MyLot site to release my ideas, opinions and suggestions. Make comments or whatever just to release the anxiety and stress. Thru this I feel relax and I feel better to do my job.

mylot is a good way to relax..i found posts from people earlier just ranting or expressing how they feel about their situation. Its almost like a diary...but you have people to comment and support you.

my cousin and her 2 yr old daughter were visiting for a week, it was such a pleasure to walk in the door and have Katie say "saundy! you're home! i'm so glad come play wif me" I enjoy her so much (i'm sure it drives her mom nuts cause i spoil her - i don't have nieces and nephews of my own yet to spoil so i steal her!)

Dear friend, Each one of use may have their own ways and may not also.In my case I listen to music, just walk, some surf cool sites, so on goes in my interest categories. On other side whenever I also do meditation and few exercises to these have given more stress relief during the crucial times.

I agree with you that drinking or any vice wont relieve the stress and will only add up to it. And also, its not good to let the stress build as your efficiency and effectiveness in your work will only be affected and so are your colleagues and boss. Like you, I do my hobbies at my free time to take my mind off my work. I also do my craft and bring them in the office at times and do them during lunch break so in that way, i get a bit of satisfaction when I get something done. It gives me renewed energy to start work again. I also loved to window shop as I just relax and see things i like and make me happy.

I take knitting to work and books to read. I spend alot of time waiting around for things to scan or install and get very bored if i dont have something to occupy myself with. Make work projects arent always the easiest to come up with.

I do not get that stressed luckily. I tend to comfort eat a bit and find chocolate especially good! I do find that physical activity can help. Mainly I find that that it is short term stres sthat I am mainly exposed to - such as if the children are fighting or whatever. In that situation I take myself away and take a few deep breaths so that i can deal with the situation with shouting.
