I get my nails done every month and not that much anymore. I ask for a plain full set. No pedicure, no eyebrow tweeze, no waxing, no pink and whites, no glitter, no special massage lotion, just plain set. Immediately I get brushed to the side for the new trainee as if my money isnt good enough. The technician slops the polish on, nails are oddly shaped, little nicks in the nail etc etc. What the f*!k is wrong with this picture? I pay by cash just like the other customers and leave a decent tip. So why do I get treated this way because I dont want a pedicure? I tried different salons and its the same treatment. I thought about not getting my nails done but I hate doing it myself and mine doesnt look good anyway. Does this ever happen to anyone? What do you do about it?

This one didn't happen to me yet, but one of my classmate's sister has a similar event happened to her. She wanted to have her hair done in this very expensive salon. She wanted to sit near to the waterfall decoration, but the usher guided her to the corner of the salon. She asked nicely if she can be seated next to the waterfalls, and the usher said, "That section is only for those who can pay." My classmate's sister got irritated and told the usher that the reason why she chose the salon was because she can pay and let the usher see her wallet as proof she can really pay.
I guess people have the tendency to pre-judge a person based on his appearance. People think that people wearing plain clothes, or in your case - wanted to have plain services, they presume that the customers cannot pay for a certain service therefore their service will be crap as well.
Lesson learned - never had salon services done in the same establishment.

OMG, that scenario is pushing all my buttons. I think I would have showed my money too and then walked out. I guess I am getting prejudged all the time since I do kinda dress like a ragamuffin on the weekends. A teacher once thought I was a friend of my son since I had on a baseball cap and sweats. He asked my son where is your mom right in front of me. That kind of stuff doesnt bother me though. But your friend is right, I wouldnt walk into a store if I didnt have the money.

I hope you live in Chicago. I just opened a black owned nail salon and it is so hard for me to get business. We have three good nail techs begging to do a good job and people seem to perfer to go where they are treated rudly and dont get what they ask for. AND GET THIS....WE ARE CHEAP Tell me what's wrong with that picture.

That's so uncool!
I hate it when so called "professionals"
treat customers like that.
I have been treated that way by sales people
at stores and I take my money elsewhere.
You will find someone who treats you right.
They are out there!
Best of luck

I don't think it is anything to do with your money not being good enough, I think it is because a plain full set it easier to do than a more detailed set and the trainees have to start somewhere, therefore they will start with the easier stages of nails such as the plain ones, which you get, before they work up to the harder stuff. I don't think it is anything more that that. As they are training they will not be as good as the fully experienced staff, maybe you could go to one place regularly and they might improve?
