Now I'm feeding TWO stray cats!

I found that out when I happened to walk to the front of my house and see a rather large orange and white cat heading for the front steps --- same place that I place one can of cat food every day, sometimes two. So far, I've been lucky in removing empty cans before the neighbors notice. Anyhow, those strays get the good stuff, Friskies canned food, and you know how much Friskies costs nowadays.
I know what it feels like to be hungry, and the thought of a poor stray going without food makes my heart bleed.

You are doing a noble service, feeding hungry and mouthless (cannot ask or talk) animals. I am also doing the same thing. I feed two stray cats with imported cat food and they have improved well healthwise and energy levelwise.

Sending a cyber-hug to a fellow caring cat lover! Scribe1, you're definitely not alone, there are many of us who do the same thing. My heart melts whenever I see a hungry stray - I MUST give it something to eat, and if possible, I would go back to the same place everyday to leave some food there. Some people think I'm foolish to bother but I don't care what they think anymore. Those poor animals are helpless!

I completely understand how you feel about letting them go without food. At one time I had 3 female cats outside and they all ended up getting pregnant. I had kittens all over the place! Talk about a high feed bill! I had a lot of fun with them though, you never know what a cat is up to. I have always lived out in the country so it was easy to keep some of them around. They are really good about keeping field mice away and house mice out of the house! It was hard to give the ones away that I couldn't afford to keep. But I was able to find pretty good homes for them. :)

Good for you feeding the stray cats. I too feed three stay cats daily. While it is expensive, I feel good knowing that I am helping them out. If ever the day were to come that they were not there, I would truly miss them.
