I don't know about you but I'm laughing over the rather sweet irony about this...thanks to Lakota, who mentioned this to me in my discussion about the seal hunters who started their "hunt" on March 28th (Friday) You can read about my initial discussion about this here http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1453534.aspx Now I'm reading an article how three seal hunters were killed...here's the article http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/nationworld/sfl-flaworlddig03301sbmar30,0,4838461.story Canada: Three seal hunters killed when boat hits ice, capsizes .." A disabled fishing trawler getting a tow from a Canadian coast guard vessel slammed into a piece of ice and capsized Saturday in the icy waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, killing three seal hunters and leaving one missing. The vessel was headed toward a large seal herd in the Cabot Strait between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland as part of the seal hunt season that opened Friday, the largest marine mammal hunt in the world. The tragedy came as the seal hunting industry finds itself under pressure from animal rights activists. Activists from the Humane Society of the United States and the International Fund for Animal Welfare were using helicopters to monitor the hunt's opening day. The fishing boat from Quebec, carrying a crew of six, had reported steering problems late Friday north of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, when the coast guard ship took it in tow...." Awww..gee...what a shame....at the risk of sounding nasty or vengeful...I'm glad...sort of an ironic sweet revenge somehow, I just can't feel sorry for the sealers that died, can you??

I guess this would be a classic example of karma, and what you do coming back to bite you in the @ss. While I don't feel sorry for the seal hunters, I do feel bad for their families.

My mom always told me, "What goes around comes around and hits you twice as hard." I guess that would be true in this case!

I agree this is plain karma. Serves them right. I mean, why don't they just hunt rats or other harmful pests?

About dang time the baby seals got revenge. Wish all the seal hunters were on that boat instead of just the 3. But, 3 less is better than none. I don't have any feelings towards the hunters' deaths. I do, however, feel for their families if they have any. Those hunters chose to kill seals for a living. I'm sure there are other jobs they could of taken that didn't involve killing innocent animals. Seems a mylot glitch is back. Not getting discussions in my inbox again. -sighs- I just happened to stumble upon this one, pye.

Sorry to hear you still have glitches...I'm the opposite..getting notices but they are coming in doubles..that is two of the same notice...I had over 300 notices in my inbox..yikes Funny the one thinks...being a writer...was kicking around the idea of a short story how animals take their revenge on mankind and killing them off Sort of a Stephen King approach to it and got the idea from this incident

they do NOT kill baby seals! baby seals have no been killed since 1986! they kill adult seals for food and to provide for their famalies. Millions of chicken cattle and pigs are brutally slaughtered everyday and no one cares because they are not as cute as baby seals, which are not even killed anymore

I love animals as much as the next person but I do not see anything funny about people getting killed, these are still people, fathers, brothers, husbands, friends, they are people, what is funny about people being killed, and no I don't think it is funny that animals get killed either.

Indian - Native Indians Spirit
Yes, nature can defend itself. Who knows, maybe seals can create bad wave or send ice into boat. I believe that nature has spiritual force. What was taken, has to be given back. Do you remember old Indians stories about nature?

Seals eat caplen and cod and the extreme over population of seals resulted in a cod moretoreum (amongst over fishing as well) where i live and now many many people remain unemployed because the cod stocks can not replenish with the seal over population

I wish something like that happened to animal abusers too. I read somewhere that someone famous said 'an eye for an eye and the whole world will go blind' but no offense I like it when people pay for their dues.

Yes, animal abusers should get some kind of karma thing back at them..especially the ones who raise factory farm animals, right?

You should be ashamed of yourself. These people do this to make a living. It's not like they kill them for fun they sell the seal pelt use the blubber and use the meat. Plus the Seal hunt has a quota and the population is way more healthy than back in the 70's when the hunts weren;t controlled. I don't see anyone complaining how Pigs, Cows and Chickens are treated and killed and you should be more concerned about that because almost everyone eats pork, beef and poultry. So shame on you for being glad of these peoples deaths and their family's loss.

Well for your information, I am against how pigs, cows and chickens are treated and killed..I'm all too aware of the farm factory "business"---read some of my other replies, especially to vulgarlittleprincess who is your friend here and what I said about karma in particular

Like they say in the classics... "Sh.t happens" But don't make anything of it... It was not a judgement from God... Just one of those freak accidents. Those guys do it for a living. It does not make them any different to anyone working in an abattoir. What's the difference between a seal and a cattle?

Your right its a sweet irony to a horrible thing. I do feel bad for the familys of these men for they have lost a loved one. But I dont really feel that bad for the men. What they do is terrible! Atleast for today the seals are safe from hunters. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

You seem to think vulgarlittleprincess that I don't know about the seal hunting business or the "fur" industry in general..wrong...the HSUS has been documenting baby seal hunts all these years....and yes, it's not just baby seal that are killed just for their pelts, but minks, chinchillas and so forth...I have no qualms against native peoples who do still hunt for seals and utilize every part of the seal and use for food...but do condemn any hunter who just kills any animal just for it's fur

Unfortunately only more hunters will no doubt replace the ones killed, only if people cease to what to wear fur coats will this madness stop

No the end of wearing fur coats will not stop the seal hunt because people need to EAT they hunt seals for food and to provide for their families. Clothing is only made out of the pelts after the meat is stripped off of it. Learn what the seal hunt is about before you start making assumptions. Do you care about the millions of chickens, cattle and pigs that are horrificly slaughtered everyday? No, you do not because htey are not as cute as seals. That is the only reason people care.

Wow, I just read both articles and it is disgusting I did not realize that this went on. In this day an age it is terrifying to realize that people can display such terrible behavior toward such helpless little animals. I too can not feel sorry for the sealers...actually I would be cheering for the seals if I could. It is sweet revenge.

Well, as wrong as I think seal hunting is--its a very tragic thing that needs to be stopped. I can't be glad over any loss of human life. Those hunters were somebody's brother, father, son. I think the whole situation is doubly tragic.

I have often thought really nasty diseases such as Ebola and AIDS were nature's way of getting even. Especially Ebola since it seems to spring out of the jungle decimate a village and disappear again. Nasty little virus that is.

As I've mentioned elsewhere you're right any loss of life is tragic...I'm viewing it though as almost a karmic kind of justice for all the pain we have inflicted on animals all these years--sort of nature getting even with us

that's definetly karma of some kind. but, they know the risks.sometimes they have to learn the hard way the don't always have the upper hand.

howdy... maybe they are hunting the seals for the wrong reasons - for sports + commercial purpose... still... to die like that... they do it because there is still 'demand' for whatever product they (the seals) produced - so... to put blame on just the hunters...

Well what about the mink or chinchilla fur industry where those animals are raised in farms just ot be killed for their fur?? That's wrong in my eyes as well

It is indeed sweet irony the killing of seals is just horrendous to me but the killing of anyone is also uncomfortable to me but they should not have been where they were let alone doing what they did. seals such gorgeous creatures why kill just for greed that is so terrible.
