Earth Day last March 29, 2008

Are you aware of the text messages which read as follows, please put off your lights, all electrical equiptments using electricity between 8 - 9 pm last March 29, 2008 (words to that effect). By doing so we will be able to save for our dear earth. Me, I received the text message at past 9:00 and I was in a mall and I noticed that there are lights all over. Of course they did not put off their lights because maybe they were not aware of the text or because they cannot put off the light because they are on business. Did you received the same text in your country and did you follow thru.

It was called 'Earth Hour', not Earth Day. Yes we participated by just flipping the main switch in our breaker box and played a few games of Sorry in front of the fireplace for heat/light. I was just thinking, thou, that for 5hrs a day..5 days a week, noone is home at all and would be a great time to flip that breaker on the way out the door and then flip it back on when we walk in since the breaker box is right next to the side door we use all the time. Since noone is home to open the fridge/freezer, it will stay cold during that time frame. Don't have the furnace on anyways so don't have to worry about heat either. Sure wish we had the money for a solar system or we would be getting 'off the grid' for good.
