why do we say hi or heelo?

When we meet anyone, we say hi or hello. I dont know why do we say that. do u have any idea?

maybe we don't know what to say or how to begin the talk so we say hi or hello the moment we meet anyone.
Second reason,if we say different words to different people we meet everyday we 'll get too tired of it,you know that we meet a lot of people everyday and involved many persons we meet day after day.So we have not too much new words to express and we even have no interests to express oursevles at that time.
That's why we say hi or hello,so much for it.
