I am curious.. do you say pop or soda and what area are you from. I live in Nebraska and I do say pop. I try to say soda when I am in other states only because I know people look at me funny when I say pop. So what do you call it and where are you from? I am really curious as to what areas do what.

I am from the New England area, and "soda" is what we say up here. I know out west it is "pop".

I'm from the Philippines. Usually, in our country, most people call any kind of softdrinks as Coke (irregardless of brand). Personally, I call them softdrinks. But when I went to the US, I call them Soda. But they say some areas in the US call them cola.

I do refer to it as soda - though it is most often called pop in the area I reside. some places I have lived called it soda-pop, I guess as a compromise. Other places that I have lived simply called it coke... no matter what brand or variety of soft drink it was called coke.
Up in Maine they called it Tonic. . . which always sounded to me like some sort of medicinal.

I have lived in New York, Florida, California, and Nevada and I have always said soda. I do know some people say pop, but the majority of the people I know say soda.

I am from NY and I say pop ( that is western NY, not NYcity).
I think it sounds funny when we go on vacation and they ask if we would like some soda. My kids always get a kick out of that!

I live in western NY and, while I prefer to say soda, people around me say pop and have no idea what soda is. When I was a cashier at a grocery store, I asked a lady if she wanted her soda put into a bag and she looked at me like I was crazy, and said she had not bought any soda. I re-phrased the question and asked if she wanted her Pepsi in a bag and she said, "Oh yeah. Throw the pop in a bag. I thought you were talking about baking soda."

I live in Pa and we say pop. Now I know when I used to live in AZ many years ago it was soda. Then I moved to Pa. I still called it soda and people were always like whats that? I didnt understand. I thought we all called it the same thing. So over the years I have picked up on pop and thats what I use.
