Some things never change, one word and one line discussions, love or hate them?

Hours at the computer - Keep typing :-)

Having taken a bit of a break away I was delighted to return to MyLot and participate in discussions again. However, while some things have changed on this site, I see the one word and one line discussions are still very much alive and well. Sorry guys, but why post something like "Rock wat is rock? " I'm sure these posters think that by blitzing the pages with these posts will earn them big bucks. Like many posters here, I like to see many and varied topics and discussions, ranging from news items, everyday occurences, incidents from around the world, and catching up on how people around the world feel about issues that concern them. What bugs me more than ever is to see pages of one word and one line postings which hardly constitute a discussion at all. Does this type of post bug you too? Do you get fed up with seeing these posts? Are you a "one liner"?

I am not sure if you are talking about in the subject line or in the body of the question. I only use one sentence in the subject line but do tend to write more in the body of the discussion. I do not like one line or one word in the body of the discussion but then I am a talker so can never just put in once sentence. Maybe some people aren't as chatty*L* I will answer one liners if I have something to say. Plus remember it is the last day of the month so many are trying to get their posts in.

Wow - fast response hun. It's mainly seeing a single word in the title, followed by one or two words in the actual discussion. Most of the time they are not actually discussions as such, and like you I enjoy being chatty.

I do get fed up and don't start discussions like that. I have responded to a few discussions with a single word, or line, but generally that is all that was needed to respond to the discussion.

I used to try to respond to the one word or one line question but these days it is difficult to find anything intelligent in response to something like *Coke or Pepsi* - LOL

I didn't say I really respond to them, but that I've left a few responses of my own. Sometimes they have lead to the best conversations if the person starting the discussion gets back to it.

I did get fed up sweety, but I wasn't just fed up with the one liners, it was also floods of posts that are not capable of discussion, no comments to any responses at all and posters flooding the board with rubbissh bragging about their payout. So last night I started responding with a few words agreeing to the query at the end of the post. I'm here to make some money too and I'm sick of taking 3 months to make payout when some of those mentioned above are earning over 6 times that in one month.

A good point hun, such is life I suppose. When I see the board drowning under so many pointless one liners or, as you rightly point out, the bragging posts, it's hard to find good discussions. Perhaps I will take a leaf out of your book and do the same :-)

Nah... never a one liner LOL I can even understand that a good discussions can start with a one line question - I don't know, something like " what do you think is the difference between ethics and morals" But I'm afraid that most one liners in here don't go that far. We get a lot of what's your favorite color,do you prefer pepsi or coke etc. etc. etc. It's even difficult to come out with a 4 line answer to some of those questions LOL But in the end, it is the question itself that attracts me, not how long it is. I have found some very short discussions that have been quite interesting. Now, if we think in terms of earnings, well, then I don't think that they will be making that much in here.

LOL - the *Coke or Pepsi* type come up almost every day :-)

I usually avoid these types of discussions. I don't really see a point to them. I also don't care for those "what is your favorite color" and "what's your favorite number" type discussions. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Me too hun, I have never figured out what kind of answer to give to the "what's your favourite number" type questions.

Maybe because I am newer here, I didn't see many one liners here. Coz English is not my native language and I don't think I am good at it. So some time my resposes are very short, I don't know what to say and how to express more views on it. But I do read the subjects and the resposed from others carefully and detailly.

At the moment pal I am no tposting discussions myself as I don't have the time to reply to my responses and I liked doing that , I usually just ignore the one liners unless it is a friend and I know what they are talking about , I must admit I pick and choose my responses , If I am not interested nor able to give a response there and then, well I just move on , Nice to see you back again pal , xx

I am not a one liner but they don't bother me.Not everyone can start a long post. And if I can answer a one line post, I will.

Welcome back hun. "Rock wat is rock?" LOL That made me chuckle. These kind of posters will learn very quickly that posting these kind of discussions will get them nowhere fast, but then again maybe they won't. There are some people's posts that I regularly see on the "discussions with no responses" link with one liners and I see those same names again and again, sometimes week after week. If they're not getting the hint, I can't feel sorry for them. I just respond to discussions that interest me and sometimes short discussions are still quite pertinent but not often. I don't think I can be classed as a one liner, even in verbal conversation I can never shut up hahaha! xx

LOL - I find it hard to shut up in conversations too hun. I guess this is one of those things that will never change, perhaps they will take the hint eventually though :-)

No I defeniatly am not a one liner when it comes to making discussions or responding to them. I try to only talk about things that I can really give a lot of input on. And when I make a discussion and I only get a quick one liner as a response, something like "great discussion, I agree" it really irritates me! Sometimes I get one liners that have absolutly nothing to do with my discussion! And it's all I can do not to yell at the person and tell them not to respond when they have nothing to say, or don't even really read the discussion. it's quite annoying! Very aggrivating.

I'm glad it isn't just me then hun. :-) Thanks for your input

I am a newer my lotter and yes these kind of posts do bug me. I feel it is wasting space on my lot that could be used for more interesting discussions. I think some of those are people posting as much as they can to get the earnings. Now I will admit that when I started My Lot, I was here for the money, but I would of never posted discussions of that nature, one word or sentence. I feel they shouldn't be responded to and should be deleted. Those people starting the discussion should not get credit for them and others shouldn't respond, but what are ya going to do? I just skip over them and don't pay attention to them anymore.

Welcome to MyLot hun. I doubt if the one liners will ever go away completely, but when you see so many, it gets hard to find a discussion to respond to.

It's a while since I as here, too, different lifetime, different incarnation! Some things have changed but as you say, there are still lots of one-liners etc., 'wat is ur eye color?' does not do it for me, never has, never will. Also it goes against the posting guidelines and as I understand it, such topics and responses are likely to be deleted? Hoever. Mylot was my first online love and despite ups and downs I am still drawn here.

I agre I think they are pointless and do we really care if you like pepsi or coke? I think mylot should concentrate on getting rid of these people before banning others.

One line discussions dont bother me too much.. 'cause sometimes a question doesn't need an explanation. It's the answers that bother me. When people give one liners for answers. Some people go through much time and even effort to make a good discussion, and it gets you down when people most likely don't read it. I always assume that someone who's left a one lined answer hasn't read the whole discussion. They just searched for the direct question.

I'm with you, my friend. Besides I'm not quite sure if I'm clever enough to start a one word discussion and I don't like one-word answers. Sometimes it does seem so very cold. My kids give me one word answers. Chilling really. And these days three words are turned into one, ie "I don't Know," becomes idk. Arrrrggggghhh. LOL. Anyhow, as you can tell, I'm not very good with the one liners.

I think those one liner posts are really confusing because it doesn't give you any information about what they want to talk about. It's just a word. Do they want a definition? Do they want to know what i think about the word? Sometimes though I might understand and be able to give a response but 99 percent of the time I can't respond because i don't know what they are looing for. They must realize that they are not going to make more earnings with discussions like that because they don't get many responses. Maybe some of them don't understand that, whio know what people think. It's hard to figure out how we get our earnings a lot of times. I really like to have a variety of topics to read about and respond to because when I have that it keeps my time hear a lot more interesting and I enjoy that more than just constantly scrolling and searching for a good discussion.

I now have a particular habit. If the discussion is too lengthy and wordy with many cramped paragraphs, I skip it totally. If the discussion is too short, one word, few words or a sentence, I too give it a miss. It's too short to catch my attention.

I dislike them because most of us are busting our butts to make wellrounded discussions and to respond with at least three or four sentences that address the discussions while these one word and one line people just tosss these out in seonds. And they all sound sort of fluffy.

I always try to contribute a decent post to discussions personally. Though secondary responses (responses to people who have responded to my reponse) may be short one liners. Pointless one lines are definitely annoying though... as long as the person has something significant to say then it's fine. Which brings up a question of course.. which would earn more? Making 10 x 2 line responses or making 2 x 10 line responses... anybody know? Or would I have to test it? LOL
