It is sad, but it is business, that is why they did it. They got more money from Progressive Bank, then they would have gotten from Jacobs. They got somewhere around three times the amount. It will always be known as the Jake to most fans though.

I expect the names on the roster of my team (Oakland A'S) to change yearly; as much as I would like it to be more stable, I understand Free Agency and chasing the almighty buck.
I, however, get really annoyed at the fact that my home ballpark has become a free agent also. In the space of a couple years the Oakland Coliseum has been renamed the Network Coliseum and then the McAfee Coliseum. Across the Bay, PacBell Park has been renamed twice...SBC Park and now, AT&T Park. The Niners have suffered the same fate...Candlestick Park, 3Com Park and, presently, Monster Park. The name goes to the highest bidder. The important thing is that Fenway, Wrigley, Dodger and Yankee Stadiums retain their names. In a game that prides itself on its traditions, there's gotta be room for keeping the more romantic aspects of the game...such as the intimate relationship between the fans and their beloved ballparks.

You are completely right. It is a shame, to not keep things as they always have been.

I think it is sad that another fields name has been sold. I am glad that Camden yards is still sponsorship free and I hope it remains that way.
