I always follow these rules:
Price
Can I afford it?
Do I need it?
Is it worth said price? I think quality comes under this bit. It's no good to me to have something of good quality if I am going to break the bank to afford it! And on the other hand, it doesn't matter how cheap something is if it doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

I need to be a good shopper, our budget is already tight and getting tighter! Hopefully all our hard work will pay off and there will be a day when I don't have to be so frugal. Although, I probably still would be because I wouldn't know how not to be!

Hi there savelife!
Well, we have limited budget right now so first, I ask myself if I really need it or maybe it can wait or maybe I can get a cheaper alternative.
Once I know that I realy need it, then I go for quality. If I really need it, I would buy something that will last for a long time. Sometimes, you think you are saving money by buying the cheaper one but later on, you will have to buy again and again until the money you spent on it is enough to buy you the high quality ones.

I shop the most around the holidays, whenever there is a good sale to be had or I simply must have something and will make a special trip to get it.

i always check the price first. whether if i can afford it or not. if i can afford it, the next that i check was the use of that thing. if it satisfies me and if i have so many uses in that thing, then i'll go for the next step which is the quality.
