That be too much sirnose. I have about 80 discussions, no referrals nor photos, and I now have 2.22. At the rate I am going, I could achieve $10 before I reach 400 discussions. At least I could credit to my discussions which I make with diligence. I mean, they do delete some discussions and we don't get paid for it. So I guess, it goes with quality. It does not have to be a flood of posts or discussions. I think it goes with the content and its quality that truly makes the bucks.

I was curious of the same question when I started on mylot, but I just realized (a year later) what it actually takes. When I first started here, I would just make brief comments, but realized that the comments that I was making wasn't earning much, it all depends on the quality of your posts.
Also try to get some referrals, I don't have many and the ones that I do have aren't very active on mylot anymore, but that helps alot when you can get more people to sign up under your referral link.
Try to answer the things that interest you the most, because you will have more to say about the subject, which means a better quality of posts.

Dear barlow662, thanks for your detail explaination. I will work hard on mylot. And since English is not my mother language, from mylot, I can impove my written English besides earning the money. Mylot is really good website for me. I will work hard to improve my English and meanwhile earning extra money.
