I know i personally choose not to have a credit card. I figure it would be much too tempting to purchase something i cant afford.
I have found though that there are somethings i cannot do without one like...order from amazon.ca/amazon.com, use ticketmaster to preorder concert tickets or even book a reservation for a hotel room. For any flights ive booked ive borrowed my moms credit card and paid off her balance right away.
I havent figured out if i can stay in a hotel and just pay cash or with debit

i choose to have a credit card. it's true that it's very tempting to buy something when you have a credit card but if you don't have any cash on hand, this will be helpful to you

I am 18 and definitely do not want to get a credit card but I really love being able to buy things online and book flights etc online without having to borrow my parents credit card. That is why I love my Visa Debit card. You can use it online and over the phone and stuff but the difference is that the money doesn't come from an account you need to pay off, it's connected to your personal bank account. I've just gotten mine and it's been really useful. I don't have to worry about paying my parents back (or forgetting to) or accruing a debt.

Good for you for making such a wise and responsible decision!!!
Dave Ramsey, (a big financial/debt guy) advocates never having a credit card.
Personally, I do use credit cards, and up until just recently I always paid the balance off completely in full every month. However, I wish I had been as responsible as you or I wouldn't have had the debt that I have now. I personally do not plan to encourage my children to get credit cards.
I think you can pay with a debit card for hotels, HOWEVER they put a reserve or whatever on more $$ than it costs, so that can causes issues.
