Why do we allow our children to dress up and collect candy from strangers?

Well halloween or as its know Hallows Eve dates back in time when people beleived demons and whiches would take their children so we dressed them up to look like them and they would not know where the children are and the big candy companies saw a great oppertunity to make some money and made it so candy was given out as a reward =)

Because it's fun, it's the one night of the year we (I say we even though i'm not a parent) will allow them to dress up and pretend to be whatever they desire and we know no one will say anything about it, it's the one night of the year we'll allow them to eat till their guts bust filling up on candy....
And it's apprently a tradition too :P

Because it's FUN, and as long as you are with your kids, you know they will be safe. If you go through the candy bags before you let them have anything, you can throw out what you want and let them keep what you consider to be safe. It is just fun for a kid to dress up and get free candy, kids should have fun, it's so sad this world has become so sick, for one day let them forget about that and enjoy themselves.

ok well back were i am from.u can make it safe to take ur kids around and yes collect candy from strangers..i am from columbus ohio and every halowween we have a program at the local hospitals were u can tahe the candy in and have them x-rayed..and as far ans the kidnapping and kids getting hit by cars..if u have more then one kid u shoud have a friend or family memebr there to help u keep watch.u should always havew ur full attention on ur kids..this is the worst time for children getting hit by cars, and kidnapped.

To let them just be kids and have a great time dressing up in a costume, getting loads of candy to eat. (ofcours as arents we dont let them eat it all in one night, it has to be rationed so they don't get ill) AS long as a parent or trusted adult takes the child trick or treating and looks through all of the candy to make sure nothing is open and no holes are poked ect, than it is safe. I personally enjoy Halloween more than Christmas and other holiday. Also in a weird way it's fun to feel a little spooked out.
