I was married in a mini dress. It was off white, fine wool in an a-line style with a loose high stand up collar. It had long sleeves gathered into a cuff and there was a lovely scarf to go with it. My M-I-L loaned me a brooch to fix the scarf with. My long hair was swept up and back with curls on top and falling to short ringlets at the back. My shoes were white patent leather bootlets with cut outs round the top of the shoe. My husband wore maroon flairs and a lemon shirt with a wide tie and borrowed someone's sports coat. Sadly, there were no photos and non of my family attended. We were married on the 12 th June, 1970. We divorced 7 years later.

I went for the traditional white gown with long train and veil. It was a tube number with very nice swarovski details on both the top and the skirt. It wasn't overly beaded though, just enough to make me stand out. Of course! I stood out! It was my day anyway.

When my husband and I got married, it was in the early autumn in Arizona, so it was hot!! I wore my faourite red sundress, and my faourite straw hat with a red scarf tied on it. We wanted to be untraditional.

Well, your dress sounds like it fit perfectly with the period of time that you got married in. I am sure that it is quite a picture looking at it now.
I wore a dress that I had as a bridesmaid dress for my wedding. It was teal green and absolutely beautiful. When I decided about 3 hours before we got married that I wanted to get married that night and that I wanted it to be at the nursing home so my grandmother could be there, it was the best dress that I had and so that is what I done.

Hello dear ruby. My wife wore red trousers and clothes and shoes when we got married in the early nineties. It seemed to be popular that way in the nineties. Besides, it was winter and that day was too cold for my wife to wear a white dress.
Well, the following photo you can see is the wedding party of my good friends', who got married last year. They were asked by us to drink that way in the room where we were having the wonderful dinner. Thanks.

What a lovely picture...so your wife didnt wear the conventional white dress either...but im sure she looked wonderful in her red outfit...also being a winter wedding the colour was quite appropriate.
I always love the dinners after weddings...for some reason they always seem so special...when everyone toasts each other...everyone is happy...always a lovely day!

I would have worn a mini dress but my fiancee wouldn't hear of it. So I had to put up with a morning suit instead (not a mourning suit as I nearly wrote). On the other hand I did have a top hat. Not a straw one.
My wife wore a full length white silk dress with bead embroidery and a short white veil. With white silk heels. I didn't look at her until she reached the altar - but I knew that she had to be looking good because my best man, not noted for his poetry, said, "she looks beautiful", and she was and is, and I am sure that you did, and do, to.

You should have put a picture on for us to see! I was married in a registry office, I got my dress for £150 and it was a bargain, it was a lovely deep ivory colour, the bodice was made of lace and it was long and had a beautiful long train with it, I loved it so much I stayed in it the whole day, I felt like a princess. I was so pleased with it as I could not afford much, and although it was second hand it did not have a mark on it. My mum had come shopping with me to help me choose a dress and she kept pointing and showing me all these evening dress style things and I kept saying hmm yes its ok and then she said to me, you like that one don't you, and I said yes but I did not want to hurt your feelings by saying that. So I tried it on and it was a perfect fit, it felt like it was meant to be. I still have the dress and it has never been washed as I did not want to wash the memories off it, I think it still has silly string stuck on it too!!

I love dresses like that, I would have suited being around in the time that they wore dresses like that all the time.

I wore an ivory off should empire cut gown with lots of beadworks and partial lace.
At the back of the gown was a detachable train about 4 meters long that has scattered beads.
Looking back at the pictures, the only thing missing in my gown was a tiara and I could look like a "princes"...ahahaha! Unfortunately, I opted to use beaded/crystal pins as my accessories for my hair sine I don't want to go overboard.

Sounds so much like mine..I made all my clothes and since i was the 4th daughter my parents couldn't afford to pay for our weddings, so I worked at Kmart in the stock room ( fun by the way back then got to see all the new stuff first and they gave 40% discounts)All the money i earned went into my dress a crepe offwhite, white Mary janes and 2 baskets of flowers on either side of me..I wore daisies in my hair and carried them also. This dress was mini and i wish i would have kept it, but got rid of it since it was turning a yellow color from age.

Hi....we were two of a kind i think!!!!
Ive no idea what happened to my dress !!!....my friend borrowed my shoes..and i never got them back because she loved them!!...and my hat ..i know that was about for many years tied up in a plastic bag..but then it must have got dumped somewhere!!!
But theres nothing wrong in a budget wedding...they are as meaningful as any lavish do!!

I just got married and wore the traditional white wedding dress. I tried to make my wedding very reasonable and except for my Oleg Cassinni wedding gown it was. The dress was pretty much the big deal. I never thought I would be like that but when I tried it on it made me feel absolutely gorgeous. I loved it. My bridesmaids wore lilac mix n match dresses.

I'm actually not married yet, but when I do get married I plan on having a long gown, in ivory and clover. We are going to have a Irish themed wedding, with shamrocks and pots of gold (chocolate coins). It's funny, my boyfriend has the ring (engagement), but hasn't given it to me yet because he wants to give it to me at a special time, even though I already know about it! On the other hand, his mother and I have been planning a wedding for a couple months, lol.
