I have two black cats and I'm still waiting for the luck. Maybe I should get another one. But I already have seven total so I shouldn't get any more. All my cats are rescued cats so I got talked into taking them. But I wouldn't give them up for anything.

Hi knit. I think its a superstition. We have 4 black cats living outside at our house.. so if that were true, I would be a very unlucky person. They are sweet and friendly and lovable creatures though.

I have never had bad luck because of a black cat, but I will say I am still supersticious about them, I do not like it when one runs out infront of me.

I have many black cats in my life ,and still waiting for the luck to come . My mom has that superstition as well , she believes that one where she will go the other way if a black cat crosses her path . I don't believe in this myself .

Its just blindly superstition according to me.
Whether the cat is black or white, the importance should never be given to colour of the skin!
and btw,if you think black cat is lucky you can own one..........its afterall about mind set and confidence.
Cheers !

A lot of this is just power of suggestion.
If someone stubs their toe getting out of bed and then remember they saw a black cat 3 months ago and blames the cat, well that's just silly.
At the same time,
if someone is carrying a rabbit's foot in their pocket
and finds a good parking place at the super market
I hardly think it has anything to do with a deceased animal's body part.
I think most of this is superstition and power of suggestion.

Heck no! I have owned a lot of cats in my life, including one or two black cats. And I almost adopted a big black cat at the shelter a few years ago. Her fur was smooth and shiny like silk, and she had the roundest green eyes that I had ever seen. The only problem with her was that she needed to be the only cat in the house. But I did write a check to help pay for her food and mailed it to the shelter.
