April 1, 2008 8:01am CST
Hello momms and dads! I have a son, he is 14 months old. He used to asleep his dummy, otherwise he can't asleep. He is waking up during his sleep and i have to give him his dummy for calming him. It is bad that my little boy have this habit, the dummy could make him something bad? If you say "yes", can you tell me how i can to make him to renounce to it?

My son and daughter both had their blankies that they had to have all the time specially at night and nothing bad ever happend to either of them. this is just something most kids do as infantsand youngsters.

Well, I have seen this before, but it's not necessarily going to make him bad! I have seen it in other people's kids, my kids, and my siblings kids, there is usually only one that does something like that! It's usually with a blanket though! Although I have seen one with a toy, a certain bottle or binky, and some with a doll! And now I even have one of my grandkids that is like this! And to put it in perspective, what the best thing to do is just not force the issue, but just try to subtley work them away from the object, but only if there is a chance! With my kids, they eventually forgot it in time on their own, because nobody made an issue out of it! And they grew up to be just as normal as anybody else!

Thank you for your response! I am trying permanently to make him to renounce to this habit but without success.
