The biggest April Fool around here is my daft cat Moomin-are your pets crazy?

Today is April Fools Day, usually a day when you play practical jokes and pranks on people. Well today the biggest April Fool has to be Moomin the mental moggie. He's a very intelligent feline, normally, quite capable of opening doors and getting into all kinds of mischief, but today he has outdone himself with foolishness.
He was out in the back garden, lying in the sunshine and relaxing, while I was hanging out some washing. We have a small pond in the back garden, nothing special but it attracts wildlife and usually Moomin stays well clear of it but this morning something must have caught his attention and he was up off the patio and leaping around the garden like a disco dancer. I can only assume he decided to chase a bug, and as I watched him leaping around I realised that he was getting closer to the pond than usual.
Oh yes, you guessed it, the silly fool took one jump too many and landed in the pond. Exit one very wet and bedraggled cat, straight into the house, straight onto the sofa, leaving a trail of water and pond weed in his wake. I caught him up and wrapped him in a towel to dry him off and now he is looking quite contrite and sheepish.
I have no doubt you all have tales to tell of your foolish pets, please share them.

My Banjo was in the front garden with me yesterday while I was setting a sprinkler. He dashed after a tiny moth which went to ground under the sprinkler. Banjo stayed under the spray getting absolutely drenched before he came out and shook himself. He doesn't mind water a lot of the time. He didn't get the moth either.

my bunch haven't done anything spectacular today...
um..yet,but my black cat a couple of days ago did his best michael jordan by bouncing backwards up in the air, landing 2 feet on the table and then bouncing an additional 3 ft up when something scared him on the floor.

LOL - cats can be so silly sometimes. I don't think Moomin will be going anywhere near the pond again :-) I love watching him when he jumps about too, but I reckon your's has him beat.

LOL Glad to hear that Moomin hasn't changed much whilst you have been away from mylot honey! Silly sausage! I sometimes wish my cat Tia was more like that but she would be mortified to have done something like that - she is really quite arrogant and just wants to control everyone! Thanks for the laugh sweetheart! xxx

That is hilarious! I actually can't think of anything that funny. One of my cats was playing on the stairs once and she got her head stuck...very momentarily...between the wood bars of the banister once. But, I was able to calm her down and help her get out. Had I not been there though, she might have really hurt herself with her twisting and working herself up. I simply calmed her down by my voice, turned her head to the side and she slipped out. She has never done it since.
But, that was about it.
That is really funny about Moomin! Silly kitty!

I shared one about my cat, Sab, who twice tried to jump into the non-existant window.
Rygel used to jump up and pull the maganets off the fridges - now he just jumps into our arms - very cute!
Sab when she was a kitten jumped into the tub while I was taking a shower - but she was only about 10 weeks old. Some other cat got into the shower with me in the last few years because I use a handheld and sit so the water doesn't splash around as much.
I also have the occational cat that jump at the shower curtains when I'm showering - that can earn a swat from the other side from me!

Love the story of your cat landing in the pond. I can't think of a good story of any of my cats. I do have a cat, MewMew, who has a great sense of humor and is very much in charge of all of us. And she is very funny about flower pots. I have pots all over my yard and she loves to sit in them. She sits out under the bird feeder, not to catch the birds, but to get the squirrels. She is my squirrel patrol and she really does keep them away. Sorry this isn't more of an April Fools story, just don't have one of those today. Just liked the pond story so had to respond.

That reminds me of the cat I grew up with. We had a fish pond in the front yard with several goldfish in it. Samantha used to sit at the edge of the pond waiting for the fish to come near her. When they did she'd reach out with her paw and take a swipe at them... Until one day she over-reached and 'PLOP', into the pond she went.
Needless to say.. she NEVER went 'fishing' again. LOL
