My kids have proven how selfish they are!

Over the last few years we managed to take in 3 homeless dogs which my kids just "had to have." I love animals and of course have become the care giver even though I was "promised" I wouldn't be. I decided a few weeks ago to see about finding new homes for two of them. I am very attached to them and miss them so much, but considering all the things going on in our lives right now I knew this would be best. Yesterday, a friend of mine took two of my dogs out to his friends farm for me. I was heart broken and worried all day about the kids being angry with me when they returned home from school. It's been almost 24 hours and they HAVEN'T EVEN NOTICED!!!!! These dogs lived in our home with us and one of them even slept with the kids!!! How can you not notice 2 of your family members are missing? I knew I would be upset for awhile from losing them but this is horrible. These animals that were supposedly loved aren't even missed.

How old are your kids? I can't even imagine how they wouldn't notice 2 dogs missing. Maybe they thought the dogs were hiding? Then again, to not even ask about them is kind of strange.

They are 4, 7, and 11. All girls. My seven year old finally noticed last night. She was pretty upset but my 11 year old is just mad at me. I really don't get the impression that she misses them. Maybe getting rid of them was best since the kids don't seem to care. The shocker to me is they weren't raised this way.

Wow... I'm not sure how to respond to that... I guess just remember that they are kids and their behavior is pretty unpredictable. I'm not sure what else it to say.. It does sound like you are a good mom though.
