Can positive and conscious, intentional, thinking improve one's overall IQ? Why?

I don't think it could. We have all heard the phrase "Use it or you'll loose it" but I don't think it works for your brain. The bigger factor is the number of neurons that are connecting brain cells and of course the number of brain cells you have. Now at an ealry age your neurons branch out much much faster than when you are older. That's why the younger you are the easier it is for you to learn. Learning new things could cause neurons to connect different brain cells and make a connection, but doing redundant games or just thinking about things I don't believe will make up your IQ. Practicing a IQ test will not raise your IQ unless you get the same test twice.
An IQ test is not a test of knowledge, but a test of critical thinking and problem solving among other things.
