I was just a kid when my mom enrolled me and my brother in a summer class for swimming. I always loved being in water so I enjoyed swimming. I think we were 5 or 7 then. Since then, we honed our skills by swimming every weekend in nearby pools and during summer thereafter. Then in high school, it was mandatory for us to take swimming class and diving was introduced. I enjoy swimming so Im glad I learned swimming at an early age. So, do you know how to swim? When did you learn? Do you like swimming?

I love swimming. Just as you i learned to swim when i was a kid. Every year there is 4 days swimmingevent, if you enter this event you get a stampcard, then you have to collect three stamps on it, if you colleted three stamps you get a swimmingmedal at the last day of the event. You have to swim 500 metres a day to oollect a stamp, so you have to swim 3 days and can take 1 day rest.

I really love swimming but i am not good in swimming.
I use to go out with my friends and i try to study, thank God i did. Floating is the first thing that i've learned.
After that when Philippine Red Cross give a free swimming classes, i join them. I was 22 that time. My teacher told me that i'm going to be good swimmer because of floating. But i was afraid to go on too deep like when it is taller than me. I am afraid. I know some style but i can't go when the water is higher than me.
I wish i can learn this.

I learned how to swim even before I started my grade school years. There is a river near our home and most of the children in our place knows how to swim.

My brothers tried to teach me but couldn't get the point across so one summer I went to 4H camp for two weeks and had the time of my life! That is where I learned how to swim. The teachers there were really patient and kind and took their time to teach me how to float on my back and everything. I loved going to the camp and would love to go again if I were a kid again.

I actually learned how to swim when I was about seven years old. I actually started with arm floats. I used to be kind of terrified of water. But now I can swim like a fish. I am a pror at swimming. The answer is yes I do know how to swim!!! I like swimming only in the hot summer weather, when the sun is just gleaming outside. I think that is the best time to swim. What do you guys think?

I know how to swim, at least, to not get drowned. LOL.
the first time I learned to swim was when I was still around 13 years old. Dad finally took me to a swimming class and that's when I had finally been able to get myself floating on waters. LOL. back then, I would just fear the water, because I often sunk in waters.
however, I'm glad that finally I can swim. hahaha. I love 'flying' in the water. that's what I feel about swimming. ;)

hello gabrielle again :)
well ,i dont know how to swim and i dont even want to :P.i am scared of water a bit.especially with deep waters.
you've got good experiences of swimming since childhood but the case with me is a bit different,i am scared of water just because i was about to sink in a lake when i was of 8 years and since then i never tried to swim either.
When i was in my tenth stantard one of my teacher todl us an interesting thought about swimming.
There is a board placed after every sea,river,lake,pool...
"If you dont know to swim dont go in to the water"
My teacher said that if you wont go in the water then how you will know to swim :) indeed.!!
The trainers who train students for swimming what they actuyally do they just leave the begineers in the pool on their own and ask them to dive across the corner themslves otherwise they will be drowned in to the water and due to that fear actually they start moving their hands and legs and start swimming, but they keep on taking care of their learners too.
This is the same phenomemon of life,if you wont enter in to any trouble how you will solve it ?so try everything, dont skip anything without even giving it a try :)
Take care :)

Hi Gabrielle :) hope u will be fine . Yap i am also a great freak of water , swimming and water sports, water actually attracts me too much , n a big fond of swimming.
Yes i do know how to swim, 5 years back i joined a navy Canoeing club in a lake, they taught me how to swim first, i learnt swimming n styles in 10 days, and then i learnt how to balance a canoe, (its bit difficult if u know). So i used to do canoeing in that lake for 4 years and swimming also. It was really a great fun and activity , swimming is also a best exercise and you will be fit physically. Before joining this Canoeing club i have been swimming from my childhood , in canals and pools, but i didnt know the particular and right styles and ways, and some tips and tricks, before i did it was just my own way and styles, n when i learnt it i got to know that one must learn how to swim, because instructors tell you some very nice tips to swim and to be on the surface of water , like i can now lie on the surface of water , without any movement :D its just like em lying on a bed, without moving my hands n legs.
Swimming is a good sport activity , and its very good in all ways, physically, and by all means, like if u have learn swimming , it may help you may be once in life, you can have any kind of emergency and incident, or you may have to rescue someone. So i think everyone should know how to swim. I learnt it from a Navy instructor so i will advice you to get some know how from an authorized instructor.
I used to do canoeing 2 hours daily for almost 4 years. I loved it , i hope i will be continuing it again soon.
