No matter how m,any classes you attend, no matter how many books you read, ni mater how many children you babysit, nobody is ever truly prepared for parenthood. yhe secret to succesful parenthood is to prepare as best you can, and then when things happen that you are not prepared for, draw on all the resources at your disposal to figure out how to handle them as best as you can.

In my opinion, you are ready to be a parent when you are ready to start putting someone else ahead of you, All the time. When you are ready to give up going out with friends at the drop of a hat, sleeping through the night, or having things go according to plan. You are ready when you accept the fact that you will not always know the right thing to do and are willing to seek help when you need it. Parenting classes can help, but they can't teach you everything. There are many ways to parent, not just one right and one wrong.

Truthfully, there is never "the perfect time" to become a parent. However, here are some signs that might show that you are ready. This is NOT to say that if you haven't met these then you're not ready or anything like that though :)
1. Have at least 3 months worth of your salary in savings --- Babies are expensive!
2. Have maternity coverage / good insurance
3. Already bought a house
4. Ready to give up going out and partying with your friends, frequent trips/getaways with your husband, going out to eat alot, going to the movies, etc.
5. Finished the education that you would like to receive
6. Have lots of patience and energy
There's more of course but that's a start :D
