I wonder if gas will every drop again. I live in pennsylvania where it is around 3.30 a gallon and its expected to hit 4.00 this summer. I dont know what im going to do i use my car everyday multiple times. What are you doing to combat high gas prices?

We are combining items into one trip. No more long trip vacations by car this year and the leisurely sight seeing trips locally aren't happening this year. Our gasoline is $4.00 a gallon here and amazingly people just keep driving locally.
The traffic is at an all time high with traffic not moving and its bumper to bumper for many miles on our freeways. It can take many hours to get anywhere and my husband is now going into work later and coming home later trying to avoid the traffic jam.

It sucks! And, I am not looking forward to the $4 this summer. I put regular in my car and I try to limit myself to one trip full of errands once a week. Other than that, I drive to and from work every day and that is it. So, I try to save all of my errands for my trip home from work on Fridays. I will hit the place closest to work and then work homeward from there. It sucks because it basically means I don't even take a lunch break anymore so I work straight through the entire day! I hope the Big Oil companies are enjoying the crap out of my hard earned and hardly take a break money!

It really isn't fair is it? It's not like they can't afford to lower prices! Sheesh! If only it were feasible for everyone to just not drive one day...or, maybe even a few days. I know that is a pipe dream for a lesson to teach them but, imagine if it could happen. However, even if we did that, they would still laugh at us as we were doing it knowing that we would be getting in our cars, gasing up, and driving around the next day or in the next few days and we would be the ones suffering as most of us would end up losing income for it anyway so, it wouldn't really behoove us at all! So very frustrating as the oil companies really have us by the gonads (or our lady jewels) and they know that we can't do a darn thing about it. They laugh themselves to the bank, the bathroom, inside their own cars, and to sleep every night where they dream about how they are taking us and laugh themselves silly in their dreams! Ugh! Whew! Ok! I need to calm down now! Sorry! I didn't intend to vent! So sorry about that!

I'm in Pennsylvania too. Here the regular is $3.30 too and premium is $3.50 or more.
There's not much we can do about it. We're in a rural area and can't walk anywhere...well we could walk to the post office since it's only a mile down our hill but then it's a mile back up the hill to the house. "Town" is roughly 20 miles away. S/o works 5 days a week and we can't change that...
At least my car gets 25mpg around here, and that's up and down a lot of hills. On the highway...what little I get to drive on the highway, I figure I get at least 30mpg.
We try to just fill up at the stations having gas sales when we can and choose stations that sell "American gas" over stations with "foreign gas".

I am also from Pennsylvania and here it is anywhere from $3.19-$3.39. I just got back from a vacation to Fla. which I drove. The gas prices were anywhere from $3.09-$3.69 a gallon. I still don't get why one station can sell it for $3.09 and right across the street it is at $3.29. The tell me it all depends on what company delivers to them, I still don't get it. The prices keep going higher and higher. We all need to just say no to the oil companies and stop using our cars if only for one day. Stay at home and enjoy the family just one day, don't go anywhere, leave you vehicle at home, don't buy gas, enjoy the day!

Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, we're trying to walk more. I also take public transit whenever it's feasible. The bus service isn't great here but it has improved a lot over the last couple of years as ridership has gone up. I'm happy to see that more people are becoming environmentally conscious.
I've also become more curious about the production of biodiesel, and am contemplating getting my hands on a vehicle with a diesel engine and start doing a bit of experimenting.

Yes you are correct the prices of gas has gone up very much, I remember by childhood days when we have to pay INR 59.50 for a gas cylinder and now same cost INR 325 and now we have to tip the person INR 5 - 10 so that he can bring gas early next time.
I don't have car which runs on gas.

We've cut back as much as we can. We can't afford the gas prices as it is and if they go up I'm not sure how we will do it. I live in Florida and it was at $3.23 when I went out last, which was a few days ago I admit so not sure what it is currently. We combine trips as much as possible and if we don't have to go out we don't, that simple. I live with my sister who is on Social Security and I'm fighting for Social Security so money is very tight but thankfully neither of us has to drive every day anyplace. I don't know how some people around here do it when they drive an hour each way to work every day. That has to really cut into money. I live in a small area so most people have to drive a good distance for work. I don't know how they manage it to be honest. Lets hope this summer isn't as bad as you think.

I live in PA too, and the gas prices just keep going up. If, or more likely when it reaches $4 a gallon, I will have to make some drastic changes, as will most of the population. I drive 48 miles, round trip, to work, 5 - 6 days a week. That's about 3.5 gal per day, roughly $60 - $70 a week if the gas goes to $4 per gal. That's almost 2 days wages, to work 5 days. I don't have the option of carpooling, since we all live in different directions. I really think that the workforce is going to change, due to the fact that people will be looking for work closer to home, with in walking distance, or bus ride distance. I have already cut back on trips to the store, mall, and other unnecessary trips. I try to plan out my shopping to get the best gas mileage.

The prices keep getting crazier and crazier everyday. We are all stuck with it until the government does something about it and the way the elections are going right now, it seems that the prices of fuel is on the bottom of the list. The mud slinging is taking it's toll on the people and keeping the attention of all to that and not what is really important. I believe it is all being done intentionally to keep us pre-occupied.

I am in Amory, Mississippi and it is $3.19 a gallon. I honestly believe if oil dropped to $50 a barrel or $5 a barrel tommorrow gas WOULD NOT go down. They know that we will pay whatever the price is for it because we have to have it. If it did drop down to $1 or $2 a gallon the gas stations would not be able to handle the rush. There would be vehicles lined up like we have seen so many times before.
Truck drivers took a strike yesterday, or most of them did. If they all took a strike for a week we could all starve. They deliver to grocery stores, gas stations, restauraunts, and clothing stores and a lot more.
But no gas probably never drop again.

we live in california and it has touched already $3.70 here.So within 1 or 2 months it may reach $4.00.Sure it will be difficult to maintain a car when it hit $4.00.Trying to go for carpool to the work place and combine my shopping trips.Better to use public transportation -though it is hard to fit to our timings yet i just started to do it to pickup my kid from the preschool.Car has become very much essential these days and hence it is very tough to restrict us in using it.

Currently it's at $3.29 a gallon here and we don't do much running around. We have to drive back and forth 26 miles per day for work and it looks like it will start cutting into our food budget even more. We don't have high bills and expensive tastes so we try to put all we can into groceries and gasoline for the car so we can go to and from work. I don't see how they expect anyone to be able to pay all their bills, groceries, and gas when the wages won't increase for us when everything else inflates.
