I joined Helium about a year ago and i produce little money on there since i dont go on too often. The reason why is i strongly disagree with how they put a minimum word count on your articles. Just because an article is long doesnt make it good, people should be judged on quality not quantity. anyone agree with me?

People should always be judged on quality rather than quantity. The length of the article is somewhat irrelevant, however good articles do need to contain certain elements, which means generally they have an average length. Really 350 is not all that much. It was a bit of a shock to start with but it turns out that most of my articles already exceeded this! I know other sites that set a min of 400. I do think that a maximum should also be added as some of the articles I have read while rating have felt like they go on forever

I agree with you...partially. I frequently rate shorter articles on Helium higher than longer articles. If a writer can say something interesting in few words while another writer goes on and on trying to convey the same information, the first writer's article is the winner. But I don't find Helium's 350 word minimum burdensome, and I think it helps the writers. I can remember when Helium was new and many of the "articles" were just a couple of sentences of off-the-top-of-the-head ramblings. Their articles are more substantial now, and I think that attracts more viewers which should give writers more exposure and a better pay out.

I agree, if someone was going to write a long speech for someone and they still wouldn't get a point across, but they knew if they wrote a shorter one that's right down to the point they'd probably get the point across, then why not write the smaller one? You'd save yourself more time writing it and getting the point across.
