Is anyone familiar with this condition? Particularly in children/teens? Anyone have any experience with it? I'm asking because my husbands neice is in the hospital, has been for a few days and the docs, so far, have diagnosed her with this...I plan on doing some research on it but figured I would see if any of you could give me some first hand input on it....

The balloon method didn't work for me. I had that done twice when I was in my 20's. So they did a surgery where they cut into my esophogus/stomach and that did help for several years. But last year I had to have adhesions removed and now I am having the old problems again. Food just stops, and has to come back up or I can't breath. Even water at times. It gets really frustrating!! I have to concentrate really hard on relaxing while I eat, and can't talk unless the food is completely down. But that is no guaranee, either.
I see now that this discussion was three years ago....what has been the outcome since then??
